Yesterday, I had the pleasure of listening to our first Black History Month panel with Mandisa Khabo, Herman Barros, Thomas Aihie and Caroline Griffiths which was brilliantly hosted by Grace Oyebunmi O. This topic is really close to my heart. Working in a sector/environment where I don't often see many people like me in senior leadership positions, it was refreshing to both witness and be part of this important conversation. Having worked at Greystar for seven and a half years, I've had many opportunities and have progressed personally, but it's inspiring to see that we are striving to do even more when it comes to diversity. I was also really pleased to see so many senior leaders in attendance. It not only drives home the message that they're invested and committed to better understand the challenges we often face. A heartfelt thank you to Mandisa Khabo, Herman Barros, Thomas Aihie, Caroline Griffiths, John (Johnny) Langton, David Richardson, Johanna Gojam an last but not least Grace Oyebunmi O. for presenting and being a fantastic host. I hope we made you feel warmly welcomed!

I was fortunate to be invited to the International Investment Summit yesterday to hear first hand from Keir Starmer about the government’s ambitions for growth. One cabinet member stated that the intention was to “open the gates to global capital”, which set the tone for a day of positive interactions with contacts old and new. It is clear that there is a once in a generation opportunity to get housing delivery back on track, particularly with the summit’s focus on: Reforming planning to speed up delivery of infrastructure and housing Ensuring regulation supports a growth mandate Applying AI, which could be really beneficial to planning Private investment alongside the public markets and the National Wealth Fund I was excited to share our experience of investing £19.6bn in UK rental housing so far and share learnings from other global markets with cabinet members and the regional mayors. Looking forward to taking these conversations forward in the coming months.

Our annual charity gala at the Natural History Museum last month raised £150,000 for our partner charity Kids. The black-tie dinner, sponsored by Eastdil Secured was attended by over 500 professionals from across the property sector, raising money for essential services and support for the children with disabilities and their families that Kids works with. Harry Downes, Managing Director – Investment, UK, Greystar, said: “I want to thank everyone who attended and contributed to a wonderful evening at our third annual charity gala. It wouldn’t have been possible without those who bought tickets, entered the raffle, bid on prizes, and all the incredible team members, partners and vendors who made it happen. A special thank you to our headline sponsor Eastdil Secured and silver sponsor Smarter Services Ltd. “Most importantly, I want to show my gratitude to Kids, whose work is truly life-changing for so many.” John Sisk & Son Ltd Jones Day Mishcon de Reya LLP Foxtons Intelligent Mobile HTA Design LLP Iceni Projects JJ Rhatigan & Company Elevision CBRE Quintain Living Addleshaw Goddard TiggColl Savills Dandara Living Lavanda Travers Smith Ashurst McAleer & Rushe HermeticaBlack Johnson Naylor BTR News Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/eykkTvRy #GreystarEurope
