Passionate about leadership succession and talent development strategies, Global leadership Professor at Leeds University, Leadership Author, Coach, Assessor, Senior board advisor and interim executive.

Business leadership is great, but have you thought about succession? Executives should aim to improve things until they themselves are no longer essential to the business. Effective succession planning is critical to the long term success of any business and is a key responsibility for any board. So what is the plan then? Do the new generation need to stand on the shoulders of the older generation in order to succeed? Since so few leaders aren’t even preparing their own successors well enough, I am willing to bet that they are not planning for their own transition either. And the research bears this out.  I am delighted to be a guest speaker tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12.00 GMT with HiDN, the Harlschon Independent Directors Network, an organization that is specifically helping executives to make this transition successfully. Please do register via HiDN and join us if this is a topic that interests you. And let’s be honest it’s coming to us all whether you plan for it or not.
