We host a meeting every Friday at 0700 in the Cedar Court Hotel. You may think 0700 is too early for a meeting but, with a cooked breakfast and lots of tips and information, it becomes one of the highlights of your week. The members are a wealth of knowledge, they allow you the safe space to think out loud to resolve a problem or streamline your ideas. The group are looking for businesses that provide us with a wide range of business which in turn gives you great #network opportunities. I have to say that it’s quite difficult to make a talk on tax sexy but Michael Grant of #Minfordaccountants succeeded where few others have. 😂 Great talk last Friday at the #harrogatebusinessgroup on the planned move to making tax digital and the implications for businesses and individuals. There was something for everyone and some insider info one would expect a very good accountant to know. Great job Michael, will definitely be referring anyone in need of a good accountant on to you.

The Harrogate Business Group met for our annual Summer Social get together last Friday at #StarlingHarrogate. The sun actually made a brief appearance in the afternoon as a nod to the occasion and fun was had by all. So pleased to be a part of this wonderful “team”.

It was really satisfying for me, and a very welcome and valuable evolution in the Harrogate Business Group’s make-up and dynamics, to see one of our staunchest members accompanied by his son, Will - part of his firm’s technical team. Will provided a brief overview of the automations he is establishing within the business to search for, find and neutralise malicious coding within clients’ cyber systems. Very encouraging and refreshing to have such tech-savvy, young-blood join us. Long may it continue.

Martin Taylor's message to the Harrogate Business Group was that Xi-Comms helps businesses capitalise on the benefits of Internet Protocol (IP) telephony and in particular can help them prepare for the Public Service Telephone Network (PSTN) switch-off in 2027 - not 2025 as some IP telephony providers would allow you to think.   For me, Martin's talk was a reminder of the criticality of voice communications in an age when there seems to be a growing reluctance, anxiety even, to actually call and have a conversation with someone as opposed to messaging them - and have you noticed that the stock of emojis never have quite the right facial expression available. For me, voice is the new face. I find the businesses I stay loyal to tend to be the ones I can have a good conversation with on the phone. I would recommend talking to Martin Taylor, who I know is absolutely great on the phone 😬 .
