🌟 Celebrating Ukraine Independence Day in Harrow 🇺🇦 I had the honor of organising a truly special event on behalf of the London Borough of Harrow to celebrate Ukraine Independence Day. It was a wonderful day filled with inspiring speeches, heartfelt stories and a strong sense of community. We were privileged to have many brave refugees join us, who shared their personal journeys and experiences, along with the Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Salim Chowdhury and the former Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Janet Mote. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, shared their stories and came together to celebrate freedom, resilience and hope. I would also like to extend my gratitude to our amazing partners at The Romanian and Eastern European Hub, Voluntary Action Harrow (VAH), Citizens Advice Harrow, and Two Generations, as well as all the dedicated volunteers who helped make this event a success. We encourage staff development and offer opportunities to learn new skills. Many members of staff have taken up apprenticeships over the last year and it's great to hear about the journey and experience. Recently, Anthea Watkins from our Housing team completed her apprenticeship with a Level 5 Professional Coaching qualification - she also completed an ILM Diploma Level 5 for Coaching. Here's what she said about her experience. Congratulations and well done Anthea 👏 "I completed my Apprenticeship Level 5 ‘Professional Coaching’ qualification after 16 months of studying in June. This included 54 hours of coaching sessions with LBH colleagues. I also completed the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Effective Coaching qualification – they ran both in tandem.   "I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, though it was hard at first getting into the rhythm of regular academic research, writing up assignments and the rigour of the exams at the end. Luckily, I had the support of a Peer Group and the Coaching Steering Group who were always on hand to help me out.   "I am part of the Coaching pool where we can offer coaching to colleagues. Several of the coaches have completed or are completing this professional qualification, and the feedback is very positive.”
