In honor of #FathersDay in Brazil last weekend, we are proud to feature Admilson Mendes de Oliveira and his son Victor Emanuel Alves Mendes. Victor started with Harsco two months ago, after looking up to his father, who is an 11-year employee with the company. "My father has always been an example to me. In my family, I am the only boy and since I was a little child I aim to be like him. Nowadays, I believe that I´m getting even closer to being able of giving back what he has done for me in the past 18 years. He is the same person to our family and to colleagues at Harsco and I have the pleasure to seeing every day the decent, responsible person that he is and - above all - good at his job. I could keep listing his qualities for hours. For me he is an inspiration of life and nothing would be enough to describe how much I admire him! Thanks Dad, for being and doing everything to me!" The Harsco Environmental Middelburg team members recently volunteered at their local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). The team painted the outside walls of their premises, collected food, and participated in a raffle to raise donations for the welfare of animals in need. Through their hard work and dedication, they supported animals in their community. At the same time, the team spent the day bonding over laughter and building collaboration skills. It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mauro Curi, senior vice president and group president of Harsco Environmental. We will always cherish and remember his kindness and compassion, twenty-five years of indispensable contributions to our company, and values-based leadership style. Our deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this time of mourning.

Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival the celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, usually commemorated by tying a bracelet around your sibling's wrist. Our team at the VISA steel site in India recently marked the occasion by tying rakhis around each other's wrists and embracing the "Brother's Keeper" ethos as a commitment to fostering a safe workplace for everyone. In July, our HR team visited the Ouro Branco site in Brazil and hosted a Values Game Session with 35 team members. It was an excellent opportunity for team building and sharing our company values. Certified by Make It Wild, our Aldwarke, Yorkshire site planted enough trees to successfully offset all diesel usage from three steel mill sites in South Yorkshire. In total, we planted 259 trees at Make It Wild’s Rowan Tree Farm Reserve, a biodiversity project of nearly 50 acres. Make It Wild is an award-winning sustainability specialist that has planted thousands of trees, dug ponds, restored wildflower hay meadows, protected ancient woodland, and created many different habitats across nine sites nationwide. The safety and wellbeing of our team members is paramount. This summer, we're beating the heat in Middle East with ice cream and cold water. Our team at SULB organized an event to bring employees together and serve them cold snacks and drinks to cool off. Our employee resource group, VetNet, strives to create a community that embraces active-duty service members, veterans, and anyone impacted by past or present service. In line with that goal, our Seven Fields office recently held a VetNet drive. Team members from the office and our nearby Sarver site collected essential items for veterans in Western PA. The donations were delivered to the Veterans HEART Resource Center, one of only two resource centers in the area. The center also offers counseling, computer training, employment assistance, and healthcare advocacy. HR team members, Amy Burr and Stacy Fetterman, are pictured along with Mary Chitwood, who is the Founder and Executive Director of the center.
