#ThrowbackThursday to Quarry Masters House in Bath Quarry Masters House, Bath, was awarded a commended at the Natural Stone Awards 2022 in the New Build Modern Style Stone Cladding category. This project combined two adjacent small, terraced houses into one new house with the addition of a semi-glazed extension in the courtyard garden. The choice to use Bath Stone was influenced by the location and history - they had been homes for mine workers in the 1720s. At Forest of Dean Stone Firms, we are especially thrilled to have Leah, a Paving Operative, who has joined us and is making her mark in the new factory processing the raw material. The minerals and extractives industry, one of the oldest sectors in the global economy, provides the raw materials essential for construction, manufacturing, and energy production. Whilst it has traditionally been dominated by men, this industry offers a wide range of opportunities and careers for women, which in turn contributes to a more diverse and skilled workforce. And, we are also proud to support Women In Natural Stone (WINS) - a networking group dedicated to bring women together from across our industry.

Lowbarrow was a winner in the New Build Traditional Stonemasonry category in the Natural Stone Awards 2022. The judges felt that the stone selected was the perfect choice and the detailing was faultless.
