Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting Lyndsey Dyson from Havwoods for a RIBA Accredited CPD, "Wood & Wellbeing: A Look at the Role That Wood Has to Play in Healthy Buildings."🌳 From biophilic design to the science behind natural materials, it was a fascinating session that got our design and furniture team thinking about how wood can enhance spaces - not just aesthetically, but for wellbeing too. A big thank you to Lyndsey for sharing her expertise! Here are some of the key takeaways from the session: - Using wood in interior design has proven physical and mental health benefits for occupants 🌲 - Unlike cold artificial materials, visual connection to wood helps lower stress levels - making it a great addition to office environments 😊 - It boosts creativity and cognitive function. Instead of feeling drained by sterile artificial surroundings, people report feeling more engaged and inspired 🧠 - In workplaces, wood helps balance everyday stresses. It was inspiring to witness the passion and creativity that the next generation of interior designers is bringing to the table. The event was a brilliant showcase of materials and techniques that will shape the future of interior design. As we look ahead, the future of interior design is evolving—sustainability, innovation, and the integration of technology will be key drivers. It’s inspiring to see students so eager to embrace these changes and push boundaries in the design world.
