Exciting progress on our latest project! 🚧 We're installing a new underground storage shaft at a pumping station to boost the resilience of the wastewater network. This will help manage water flows during heavy rainfall, holding excess water temporarily before it's treated at the station. A vital upgrade for a more robust and reliable wastewater system! 💧

#TeamHBT undertaking 1800mm hand tunnel for a new storm outfall.

Channeling the spirit of 'The Great Escape' our skilled Miners are digging deep to excavate a timber heading for our esteemed client. Timber headings involves creating a horizontally inclined tunnel by carefully excavating earth, while supporting the tunnel's roof and walls with timber. The process is done in stages, where timber frames (called "sets") are installed incrementally to prevent collapse and ensure the safety of the workforce as the excavation progresses. Upon reaching the end of the heading our Miners will install a new sewer pipe and backfill the heading with lean mix concrete.

In 2021 Morrison Construction added a geocellular tank to the existing surface water system in Rothienorman for Scottish Water Horizons and further to that we are now underway installing a new 140m long surface water outfall from the SUDS pond to help prevent future surface water flooding for David Arrenberg and Scottish Water . Along part of that route sits an abandoned rail embankment. The sewer at this point is 10m deep so we have called upon a specialist contractor HB Tunnelling Ltd to install a traditional timber heading to allow the installation of the new pipework. Ground conditions are such that auger boring or HDD would not have worked. Thanks to all the hard work on site so far and for the local community for their patience and support.
