"Designers must think beyond aesthetics and architecture of the spaces, but also focus on sustainability, cost-efficiency, and reducing carbon footprints to ensure these facilities stand the test of time, both in their functionality and ability to adapt to reshape how healthcare is delivered." As the government shifts focus to the new neighbourhood health centres, which will co-locate services including GPs, care workers, physiotherapists, health visitors and mental health specialists, we take a look at the future of healthcare design. 💡 New blog post: https://ow.ly/W7Tf50Up0M9 #healthcare #design #sustainability #community

“You really feel a purpose in what you do...we speak to the client often and ensure for a really clear and concise visual language. This can come in the form of 3D drawings and VR, so individuals not in our profession can easily understand the design process and what they are getting.” - Agata Dixon-Smith, architect, reflects on the rewards of healthcare design. 👏📽️ ➡️Find out more: https://bit.ly/483Fqp2 #healthcare #architecture #healthcaredesign Health Spaces Fleet Architects Ltd

“Understand the local market and tailor the design to your neighbourhood. Each high street has its own dynamic. It’s essential to understand the local market and tailor the design to your neighbourhood.” Hit hard by the rise in online shopping and sluggish investment, owners and developers across the UK are on the hunt for new ways to fill vacant stores and increase footfall. Meanwhile, NHS Trusts and healthcare providers are looking to shrink waiting lists and ease pressure on hospitals. Bringing health services to the high street, as is already happening in many areas, could help solve these twin dilemmas. 🏗️ In our latest article, Working for everyone - Health on the High Street, we examine some of the critical factors that hospitals and Trusts need to consider. ➡️ New blog post: https://ow.ly/W7Tf50Up0M9 #healthonthehighstreet #NHS #healthcare

"We can learn some important tangential lessons from commercial real estate, where mixed-use developments are designed with maximum flexibility from the outset to accommodate potential shifts in tenant needs, market conditions and internal dynamics." As the government shifts focus to the new neighbourhood health centres, which will co-locate services including GPs, care workers, physiotherapists, health visitors and mental health specialists, we take a look at the future of healthcare design. 💡 New blog post: bit.ly/3OB9YH2 #healthcare #design #sustainability #community #healthonthehighstreet

💡 How is the NHS using health hubs to tackle health inequalities? How do neighbourhood health hubs connect to the wider Health on the High Street vision? NHS Providers has launched a new case study collection ⬇️ #NHS #healthonthehighstreet #healthhubs
⚖️ How are trusts using health hubs to tackle health inequalities? The government has set out a clear ambition to 'shift left' to preventative and community-based care and health hubs can provide an innovative step to achieving this. 📚 Our new collection of case studies highlights examples of health hubs, where trusts are delivering services within communities to improve patient access and experience, ultimately with the goal of reducing demand for secondary services. The collection explores: 🔷 Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust's 'Life Rooms'. 🔷 Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust's 'Public Health Bus'. 🔷 South London Listens' 'Be Well' programme, in association with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. 🔷 Actionable steps you could take to develop and implement similar programmes. "In a design workshop a surgeon said it’s important that, when you’re in a lengthy surgery, you can take micro two-second breaks to stand back and refocus your eyes on the long view, which keeps you accurate. The site is adjacent to green fields, so this raised the possibility of external views in the design of the theatre. "It’s insights like that and subsequent features in the design that make the facility work for the people using it." Head of Design, Max Lishmund, reflects on the unique world of healthcare design. ➡️Read more: https://bit.ly/3Symrhd #healthcaredesign #theatredesign

"The anchor of tomorrow are these health centres in the heart of our shopping centres, in the heart of our neighbourhoods, in the hearts of our rural areas - because they bring people together. The time is now." Last week we were joined by panellists from across the UK to discuss how to make Health on the High Street a reality - from healthcare and finance, to retail and public/private partnerships. The first of our FORTIS Health on the High Street industry working groups, with plenty of follow-up work ahead to turn discussions into tangible actions. Updates to follow.
