It was a great occasion to share with so many groups across City of London Corporation
Common Councillor, City of London Corporation: Chair, Natural Environment Board: Vice Chair Policy: Deputy Chair, Epping Forest & Commons: Deputy Chair, GHSMD: Chair, Women Pivoting to Digital Taskforce: Director FSSC
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our work across the City of London’s 11000 acres of open space and our 200 City parks, gardens, plazas and churchyards. A celebration at Guildhall tonight recognised the huge contribution of our volunteers across many decades. Larry (pictured left), a young 90 year old, has volunteered for Heath Hands at Hampstead Heath over its 25 year existence - with Raymond (right) not far behind. Bridget (next to the Lord Mayor) has volunteered thousands of hours at West Wickham over 20 years and spoke with passion about the value of volunteering to both the giver and the receiver. The Lord Mayor reminded us that we are blessed with two hands: one for ourselves and one for others. Thankyou to all volunteers everywhere! #volunteers #heathhands #westwickhamcommon #cityoflondoncorporation #cityoflondonvolunteers #naturalenvironment

Our organisation turns 25 years this year and to celebrate, we made this short film with our friend, filmmaker and photographer extraordinaire Matthew Maran! We feel it does a great job of showcasing our work and that of our volunteers across Hampstead Heath, the Kenwood Estate and Highgate Wood. Thanks to Matt for all his time and thanks to our partners City of London Corporation and English Heritage for working with us! https://lnkd.in/eyxQTvXW

This week is hedgehog awareness week and, fittingly, the past couple of weeks have been very hedgehog-focused at Heath Hands as we marked 1 year of our hedgehog-friendly Heath project (read more: https://lnkd.in/eiyeyTtP) and worked with our partners at Zoological Society of London (ZSL) London Hogwatch and City of London Corporation’ Hampstead Heath to set out 150 cameras across the Heath (including English Heritage Kenwood Estate) to monitor our local hedgehog population. Many thanks to all who have worked with us on these projects so far and we look forward to continued collaboration over the coming year! If you’d like to check out the results of the Heath’s last hedgehog survey (and our other monitoring projects), head over to https://lnkd.in/ex9-wjRm

Thanks to Camden Giving for their support for our youth programmes
See your donations in action! Camden Giving supports local projects like Accessible Youth on Hampstead Heath, providing nature-based activities for young people with disabilities and those facing school attendance challenges. Your generosity makes a difference!

We're about to begin some projects at the Men's and Mixed Ponds on Hampstead Heath. After the works to improve accessibility, we'll be landscaping the construction sites, creating areas for wildlife and greening up the buildings. If you'd like to support us we're fundraising: https://lnkd.in/gcvxeG9f
