Hamelin's new initiative, the Ability Works project, offers comprehensive support for autistic adults and people with learning disabilities. This free employment program at Sutton Farm, Rochford, includes workshops, mentoring, CV writing, interview prep, and work experience. Participants also gain hands-on horticulture experience, benefiting their physical and mental health.
Markie M., Employment Manager, emphasizes the importance of this initiative. Only 30% of autistic individuals are employed, despite 75% being capable and eager to work. Ability Works aims to change this by equipping participants with essential skills and raising employer awareness of the barriers these individuals face.
The project provides practical experience and fosters social skills, preparing participants for any employment setting. It breaks down barriers and creates inclusive workplaces in Rochford, Southend, and Castle Point.
As HEMSPAN Ltd moves offices to Rochford, forward-thinking initiatives like Ability Works stand out. You can learn more about how this program makes a difference and how you can get involved. Let's work together to build a more inclusive future for all.

With the UK government's proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), HEMSPAN Ltd. is poised to thrive like never before!
The reforms focus on:
Sustainable Development: Emphasising eco-friendly construction and prioritising green building materials aligns perfectly with Hemspan's commitment to sustainable solutions. Hemp-based products will be in higher demand as developers seek to meet new green standards.
Housing Supply: The push to increase the housing supply will lead to a surge in construction projects. HEMSPAN Ltd's innovative BIOHAUS® system is ideal for developers searching for sustainable MMC options that meet the new regulatory requirements.
Renewable Energy: Encouraging the use of renewable energy sources in new developments dovetails with our mission to reduce the carbon footprint of the construction industry. HEMSPAN Ltd's BIOHAUS® system is net-positive energy, on average over the year, it produces more energy from renewable energy sources than it imports from external sources. In addition, BIOHAUS® system supports energy-efficient building design specifications including installing water-saving taps, using grey or rainwater for toilets and gardening.
Design Quality: Higher standards for design and aesthetics in new developments will showcase the unique advantages of climate-positive materials, which offer both durability and a natural aesthetic appeal.
Climate Resilience: Building climate-resilient infrastructure aligns with our mission to develop the bio-based, circular systems to capture and store atmospheric carbon in buildings, and deliver climate-positive community living at scale.
We are excited about the opportunities these reforms bring and are ready to support developers and builders in creating a greener, more sustainable future.

Over the last three years, HEMSPAN® has raised just over £2.5 million. This funding has allowed us to make significant progress and establish ourselves as key innovators in the sustainable construction sector.
Last month, we achieved a significant milestone by attaining BOPAS accreditation for our proprietary BIOHAUS® system. This resulted from a dynamic partnership with Apply Structure Ltd and Tecbüro AT Ltd, which has seen the system progress from a concept vision to a transformational construction technology. The BIOHAUS® system has the potential to revolutionise the construction industry, offering a more sustainable and efficient approach to building.
The BIOHAUS® panellised housing system is a standout in the construction industry. It is certified for residential and public buildings up to three storeys, with further scope to develop designs for buildings up to 18 metres (five storeys). The system has surpassed fire-testing requirements with an impressive 2-hour rating and exceeded thermal, acoustic, and hygrothermal testing standards, ensuring its quality and reliability.
In addition, we have some impressive projects in the pipeline. In recent months, we have secured a strategic partnership with a landowner for a climate-positive community of 2,000 homes - a pioneering initiative in the UK. Additionally, we have signed a contract with an iconic landowner for a climate-positive farmhouse, which serves as a gateway project for our future growth.
The launch of Series A funding will enable us to maintain our momentum and expedite our mission to develop bio-based building technologies and circular systems to enable mass adoption of carbon-negative living.
We are poised for substantial growth, and if you would like to be part of the journey, please contact us for more information about these exciting prospects or visit the investment platform by clicking the link below.

BIOHAUS® technology receives coveted BOPAS accreditation.
We're thrilled to announce that our innovative, bio-based, off-site manufactured panellised building system, BIOHAUS®, has received prestigious accreditation from BOPAS (Buildoffsite Property Assurance Scheme) for buildings up to three storeys for residential and public use.
This milestone confirms that our climate-positive, whole-house system meets the highest industry standards for durability and integrity, providing further opportunity for system development up to five storeys or 18 metres.
The BIOHAUS® system is a game-changer for the construction industry, boasting several unique features that set it apart:
● A comprehensive 2-hour fire protection across key elements, ensuring a higher performance standard for the complete superstructure.
● U-VALUE: 0.100W/m2K - with exceptional thermal efficiency and acoustic properties, the BIOHAUS® system ensures consistent year-round internal temperatures and a calm and peaceful environment for occupants.
● BIOHAUS® utilises the whole hemp plant, structural timber, and advanced MEP technologies to deliver carbon negative construction and surplus energy outcomes.
Over the past three years, our CEO, Matthew Belcher’s, vision has been researched and developed with the unwavering support of our exceptional partners. This achievement is a testament to our collective dedication and hard work!
Amidst the significant housing and environmental challenges facing the UK, the BIOHAUS® system provides a highly scalable climate-positive solution. With a housing shortfall of 4 million, our technology could significantly reduce traditional construction programmes to support developers in addressing the housing crisis.
We would like to thank our partners, Apply Structure Ltd and Tecbüro AT Ltd, our incredibly supportive shareholders, and the whole team who have taken us one step closer to growing the buildings of the future!
