An amazing arts and crafts story 💛 Mark has been a longtime Artmaker here at Henshaws and comes four days a week. Mark has been involved in some amazing projects we have done, from our mythical beasts exhibition at Knaresborough castle to our .artmaker exhibition here at the Centre, at Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, and at Rural Arts in Thirsk. His beautiful mosaics and drawings of animals never fail to steal people's hearts... We love having you here, Mark! If you or someone you know would flourish as an Artmaker, why don't you visit our website and find out more today: https://lnkd.in/eq2ffrzt [Alt-description: Video shows Mark sitting at a bench at the Arts and Crafts Centre and talking to the camera. Behind him is some lovely colourful artwork, made by Artmakers. Mark is discussing his time at Henshaws and what he gets up to day-to-day. At the end of the video, text appears that tells the viewer to visit Henshaws' website to find out more about being an Artmaker.] #ArtsAndCrafts #ArtExhibition #RuralArts #ArtCommunity

A Specialist College throwback - out and about with our students 🌞 It makes us immensely proud to see our amazing College students living their best lives out and about on trips - they've recently been getting used to different houses ahead of a first overnight stay, dancing at the disco, and chilling in the houses... And they've had a blast doing it! We absolutely LOVE the expression on Max’s face (top left image in our lovely collage); in case you couldn't tell, he was having none of it at the inflatable park! Fancy finding out more about our amazing Specialist College? Visit our website: https://lnkd.in/erwJbzJU #SpecialistCollege #ThrowbackThursday #StudentLife #InclusiveEducation #DisabilityAwareness

Calling artists far and wide... Art Anonymous is back! We are thrilled to announce that our online Anonymous Art Sale is back for 2024! After the overwhelming success of last year’s event, where we raised an impressive £10,000 for Henshaws, we are more excited than ever to bring this event to you again. The incredible support of our contributing artists and everyone who purchased artwork made this achievement possible. We now call on all artists, both professional and amateur, to donate pieces for our October sale. Ideally, each piece should be postcard-sized (5’’ x 7’’), but we are happy to accommodate larger works if requested. Additionally, we welcome all mediums, subjects, and styles to celebrate the diversity of art. Could you help provide us with some amazing artwork? Find out more, including how to get in touch, here: https://lnkd.in/eU_eAK7S #AnonymousArtSale #ArtForCharity #SupportLocalArtists

Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre is proud to be part of FEVA 24 and the Nidd Art Trail this summer! We sometimes find ourselves needing to validate the artwork produced here by the Artmakers as art, so we decided to visit the traditional art genres, just as many artists have explored throughout their careers. We began with Still Life, looking at colour and pattern while also taking the time to appreciate the shape, form and texture of many of the objects and artefacts. This exploration was great for those Artmakers with visual impairments and other sensory processing needs. We absolutely love the cohesive and exciting bodies of work produced so far by our amazing Artmakers. Come and view the Still Life Exhibition, and let us know what you think! The exhibition runs from 9th- 30th August, Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm, and is in the cafe gallery and around the site and gardens too. Please note that the lunch hour from 12 - 1pm can be very busy. Note: The Artmakers' exploration of the traditional art genres continues as they begin to explore Landscape with artist and workshop leader Shirley Hudson. As part of the Nidd Art Trail, Shirley will be painting ‘En Plein Air’ on the 19th and 20th of August in the gardens at Henshaws, with a temporary exhibition of her paintings over the two days. The Artmakers will join her painting outside in the gardens on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of August. Please come and join us as we celebrate the outside landscape and take the opportunity to grab another look at the Still Life Exhibition which runs throughout August. #FEVA24 #NiddArtTrail #StillLifeExhibition #LandscapeArt #ArtExhibition

Supporting service users in their Blue Badge application 👏🏼 Our Enablement Team supports our service users in their local area so that they can access the support they need. At present, we have Enablement Officers covering Salford and Trafford, Bolton, and Oldham. Josh, our current Enablement Officer for Salford and Trafford, recently supported one of our service users, Monica, to obtain a Blue Badge. He supported her with the application process, which was a success. We've put together a handy blog that goes through the whole process; if it could be of help to you, why don't you give it a read: https://lnkd.in/eSTjdQCY #BlueBadgeApplication #TraffordSupport #BoltonCommunity #DisabilitySupport

A lovely day out with our amazing Artmakers 🌟 Artmakers from our Nature Connections and Sensory Workshop visited Brimham Rocks recently. We went for a gorgeous walk around the rocks and moors, exploring the views, and then we learned how to do happazome crafting and felting with foliage. We then enjoyed some delicious ice cream in the sunshine. A big thank you to YDMT - Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust, and an extra special thank you to Jo; we had a great time!
