Congratulations to six Herefordshire schools who have been presented with bronze awards for their achievements as members of the Attachment Research Community (ARC) to become trauma informed and attachment aware schools. 🌟 Broadlands Primary School, 🌟 The Brookfield School, 🌟 Hampton Dene Primary School, 🌟 Trinity Primary School, 🌟 Holmer Primary Academy 🌟 Kingsland Primary School The awards were presented by the author and poet, Lemn Sissay, as part of the Herefordshire Virtual School conference on 2 October 2024 promoting relational practice in schools. Four of the schools who achieved bronze also ran workshops at the conference so that other interested schools could gain first-hand experience of the process. Herefordshire Council’s Herefordshire Virtual School have been running their ARC membership programme since April 2023 to improve inclusive, trauma-informed practice across Herefordshire schools for the benefit of all pupils. Schools complete an audit on their current relational practice, revise their behaviour policy to reflect relational approaches and receive whole school training on trauma and attachment delivered by an educational psychologist. Virtual School Head, Joanna Chick, said, “We would like to offer a huge congratulations to the schools who have achieved their bronze awards. We look forward to celebrating more bronze awards, and hopefully some silver awards in the future as their journeys continue. Feedback from our conference was overwhelmingly positive and more schools have already enquired about signing up with ARC.”
