A new report from the High Value Manufacturing Catapult has highlighted the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of automation and robotics (A&R) in the UK, before outlining a vision for the future. '2050 vision for automation and robotics in UK manufacturing' argues that there will be widescale adoption of A&R across the sector by 2050. It says that by embracing the technology, the UK will benefit from increased productivity and competitiveness, stronger supply chains, improved living standards and more jobs with improved salaries. In his foreword, Mike Wilson, Chief Automation Officer at the MTC - Manufacturing Technology Centre, said: “Despite the UK’s strengths in advanced robotics research and artificial intelligence (AI), the UK needs to ensure that it is not left behind other nations when it comes to implementation. “It is crucial to continue investing in research and development, fostering collaboration, but also ensuring the responsible adoption of A&R technologies to maximise their benefits across the UK and the global manufacturing industry.” Read and download the '2050 vision for automation and robotics in UK manufacturing' report, here: https://lnkd.in/eVJeCZVK #automation #robotics #manufacturing Karol Janik

The Aerospace Growth Partnership has launched the '#DestinationNetZero Two Years On' report. Released at #FIA2024, the document highlights the impact of High Value Manufacturing Catapult centres in seizing the opportunities presented by sustainable aviation, including the AMRC’s COMPASS project alongside the Aerospace Technology Institute and Boeing, and the National Composites Centre and #AMRCCymru’s work on Airbus’ Wing of Tomorrow programme. Speaking at the report launch, Minister of State at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Department for Business and Trade, Sarah Jones MP, said: “This government has partnership written through the core of its missions and we are 100% committed to supporting aerospace to drive green growth. “The UK is open for business and I am so excited to partner with the sector as we go into the future together.” AGP industry co-chair, Sir Michael Ryan, added: "Aerospace will always be an innovation-led sector. The UK needs to innovate at pace and industrialise at scale to provide the foundation to continue to secure its advantage. “We have proved that working together is the only way to maintain the dynamism of the UK aerospace sector.” Read the report, here: https://lnkd.in/e8NrXBfM #DestinationNetZero #UKAerospace #Aerospace

Our CEO Katherine Bennett CBE Bennett has welcomed today’s announcement from the Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds MP on more than £100 million funding for green R&D projects in aerospace. Speaking from the Farnborough International 2024, Katherine said: “Net zero does not need to clip our wings. The UK has been a pioneer in aerospace design and manufacturing for almost as long as powered flight has been possible and we can also rise to the challenge of leading in achieving net zero emissions. High Value Manufacturing Catapult is working closely with Gary Elliott and the Aerospace Technology Institute to support innovation in the UK aerospace industry and we are part of the aerospace technology showcase at the show. #Innovation #Aerospace #Aviation #Manufacturing Announcement from Department for Business and Trade here: https://lnkd.in/eJrFgENM
