How can fine jewelry remain relevant and desirable? I shared some thoughts in Hill & Co.'s "The Business of Jewelry Report." 💎 Keeping fine jewelry relevant – From Sotheby’s record-breaking vintage watch sale and brands like Gemmyo and Messika, I highlight how curated offerings, smart marketing, and experiential selling are shaping the industry. 💎The power of storytelling and authenticity – Consumers now crave meaning and connection, whether through lab-grown diamonds, vintage upcycling, or rich brand histories. 💎 A European perspective on optimism – I look at how heritage European brands thrive by embracing omni-channel strategies and customer engagement. You can read the full story at https://lnkd.in/d9X85VX7 and I'd love to hear your thoughts. The Report is packed with insightful and actionable content, so I am sure you'll have many takeaways and feedback for the Hill & Co. team. A warm thanks to Elle Hill and Donatella Zappieri for inviting me to pen a few ideas on how to make the industry we love so much a thriving force. Who is your primary customer? It might not be who you think it is. Sometimes, your primary customer isn’t the end consumer—it’s the one who drives your unique value proposition. Our Founder & CEO, Elle Hill, experienced this firsthand in her retail store: The primary customers were not the jewelry buyers. Instead, the designers were the key customers. The strategy focused on attracting unique designers with marketing opportunities. The result? Exclusive collections, media attention, and delighted end consumers. Here’s how to apply this strategy to your business: -Identify who truly drives your business's unique value. -Allocate resources to nurture relationships with this primary customer. -Reassess your business model with this perspective. -Focusing solely on end consumers can sometimes limit your business's potential. Your true competitive advantage might lie in building strong relationships with suppliers, partners, or other key players. A study by Bain and Company found that companies excelling in identifying and serving their primary customer achieve 4-8% higher revenues than their peers. So, ask yourself: Who is your primary customer? How does this shift in perspective impact your strategy and resource allocation? Rethinking this fundamental question could unlock new growth opportunities for your business. Remember, sometimes the key to reaching your end consumer is nurturing relationships further up the value chain. #Jewelry #Gemstones #Diamonds #DigitalMarketing #BusinessStrategy
