We were pleased to welcome students from Oxford Brooks University to Blackbird Leys, delivered in partnership with Peabody in #Oxford 🏗️ The visit provided students with an in-depth look at a functioning construction site, emphasising key aspects such as site security, accommodation, and welfare facilities. They learned about the management structure, various trades and professions involved, and the role of subcontractors and supply chains. Additionally, the tour highlighted the different stages of construction, from temporary works to material handling, as well as the integration of renewable energy on site. The development will feature 210 apartments, and 84 homes designated for shared ownership and affordable rent. Additionally, plans include a community centre, public square, and shops, all aimed at fostering a vibrant community in Oxford. Last week we headed to Cranbrook Church of England Primary school for a #poppymaking workshop ahead of #RemembranceDay. Over 150 excited children took part in the activity, which involved cutting and painting old plastic bottles to create replica poppies, which will be used to create a beautiful poppy walk with a quiz trail at our #HartleyAcres development in Cranbrook over Remembrance Day weekend. The whole community is invited to join us on Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th November for the event (11 am until 3 pm) and every child who takes part will receive an edible treat to commemorate Remembrance Sunday. #lestweforget #WW1 #wewillrememberthem

We recently celebrated reaching the highest point of construction at Barlby Road, delivered in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea 🏗️ This development will provide 83 new homes, 38 for social rent and 10 will be designated for key workers, making a significant difference in the local community. Beyond housing, we’re proud to offer a multi-use sports hall, prioritised for the pupils of nearby Barlby School and open to the community after hours. Additionally, a flexible studio unit will be available for hire, ensuring that this development becomes a vibrant hub for everyone. It was great to welcome 30 students from Stewards Academy, Harlow, to Parnall Road for a hands-on bricklaying masterclass delivered by one of our supply chain partners, GSQ BRICKWORK LIMITED! 🏗️ The students laid their own bricks, calculated costs like quantity surveyors, and tackled health & safety by spotting hazards on site. It’s great to see these students dive into construction and learn valuable skills.
