About us
Hinckley & Rugby Building Society was formed in 1983 by the merger of Hinckley Permanent Building Society, which was founded in 1865 and Rugby Provident Building Society which was established in 1861. A top 20 society, Hinckley & Rugby has total assets of more than £740 million and over 50,000 savers. In addition, it has over 7,000 borrowers who are also benefiting from the Society’s success. The Society is committed to providing an extensive range of competitive savings accounts and mortgage schemes and to providing the highest standards of customer service. With 7 branches and 2 agencies, Hinckley & Rugby is not only represented in some of the towns and cities of the East and West Midlands, but it is also strongly committed to having outlets in smaller village communities, where it is often the only financial services provider for miles around. The Society is proud of its pioneering volunteer scheme ‘Community First’ which gives staff up to three days’ paid leave each year to get involved in volunteering projects of their choice. As well as opportunities to become involved with many national and local charities, the Society is committed to working with Leicestershire Cares, which fosters links between businesses and local people and organisations in need of help.

Anyone local to Leicester will know last Sunday was the half marathon and 10k taking place across the city. 🏃♂️ You may recall that we had a small, but mighty, team of runners taking part to raise funds and awareness for Movember - the leading charity focused on improving men’s health. Well Luke Butterworth, Lewis Young and Caven Cheung trained hard and have so far raised a wonderful £450, only £50 to go to reach their target! Unfortunately, Lewis was unable to take part due to an injury incurred while training, however Caven completed the 10k (apparently ‘smashing it’ according to Luke!) and Luke battled hard to complete the full 13.1 miles, and survived to tell the tale! Luke said: “It was a cold start to the day and the hills were tough, especially towards the end of the race, but there was a great atmosphere and the supporters were amazing, they kept me motivated all the way round. I want to thank everyone who has donated and helped spread the word, it’s been a fantastic experience. Running has definitely benefited my mental and physical health, so much so I plan to take part in the Manchester Marathon in the new year!” Anyone who hasn’t yet shown their support, there’s still time.👇 Visit: https://lnkd.in/ecMd6ZKk A huge well done to all three of our runners for their dedication and support of a great cause. 👏

The Society’s Community Sponsorship Scheme, introduced in Spring this year, provides financial backing and support to small charities, community groups and clubs in our heartlands of Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Bright Hope, a charity serving the people of North West Leicestershire, recently applied for sponsorship to help fund their Befriending Service, which reaches out to vulnerable and sometimes isolated individuals with life limiting conditions. Their application was successful; so Guy Bennett and Carla Loughrey from our Marketing team took a trip over to Bright Hope to learn all about the charity and this important service. 💛 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eMNjji_c #CommunitySupport #SocialCareServices #SponsorshipScheme #BuildingSociety
