Home Mechanical Ventilation in Partnership
Hospitals and Health Care
Improving lives, making a difference
About us
HMViP is a holistic collaboration of health care professionals working within the field of home mechanical ventilation (HMV). It benefits from representation from service users including patients and carers. Our mission is to create fair and equitable access to a care agenda led by patients. We shall champion evidence-based approaches for HMV to encourage adoption in centres not currently providing this service. We shall support and represent patients and their carers with improved patient education. Our aim is to further improve the experience of patients with underlying conditions that may require assessment for HMV through education and improved knowledge. In addition, we shall provide a resource for other health care professionals involved in the treatment of this patient group. To achieve this, the group will undertake projects which encourage good practice, such as the promotion of evidence-based pathways for use of HMV in a range of underlying conditions. Cripping Breath is recruiting three community researchers - people with lived experience of respiratory illness who live on or with ventilation (technologies that support breathing). These paid roles will involve joining the wider Cripping Breath research team, undertaking data collection and analyses, as well as supporting other project activities. You do not need to have had experience of research before, as all learning and training will be provided. To find out more about go to their website where you can register an expression of interest. #HMV #respiratoryhealth https://lnkd.in/eh-TSjUU

Sharing this from our HMV Facebook page. Ian Flatt has MND and is an HMV user. On MND Day this year, Ian (together with his amazing support team) scaled Snowdon, as part of his #7mountain challenge to support the Rob Burrow Centre appeal. What an endorsement for HMV #AddingLifetoYears!

Thank you to all of the ventilator users who have shared their #HMVandMe stories on #WorldHMVDay. A special thank you to the members of Pathfinders Neuromuscular Alliance who have been very generous in sharing their stories and experiences. #HMV #AddingLifetoYears If you have a story to tell, please post on your own social media channels using the hashtag #HMVandMe. https://lnkd.in/eae2FhCB

Dean was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last year and a few months after diagnosis noticed he was getting tired in the afternoon. Since using HMV, he has found he is sleeping at night and experiencing less daytime fatigue so that he can enjoy more time with his friends and family. #HMVandMe #WorldHMVDay #Addinglifetoyears #MND To find out how you can share your story, or simply to find out more about HMV visit our website https://lnkd.in/eae2FhCB

Suzanne, Research Officer for Pathfinders Neuromuscular Alliance shared her ventilation story with us. She says that her ventilator is her "lifeline" and has been using it since she was 10 at night. Even at this age, she noticed an improvement in her health after using it and it has allowed her to do activities ranging from sleepover when she was younger to enjoying travelling as an adult. #HMVandMe #WorldHMVDay #addinglifetoyears To find out more about how you can get involved and tell your own story, and also to see the resources available to go website https://lnkd.in/eae2FhCB

Meet Bobby and watch his #HMVandMe story. He uses his ventilator during the night and day, and it gives him the energy he needs to enjoy life and volunteer for his local powerchair football club, Hull & East Yorkshire power chair football PFC.
