UK Net Zero Carbon Standard: A huge step in the right direction for truly sustainable buildings! 🚨🌍 As the highly anticipated UK Net Zero Carbon Standard has been launched as a pilot, our Building Physics and Net Zero lead, Deepika Singhal delves into the key highlights and elements to consider in this must-read review! Key takeaways: ⛏️Broader Sector Coverage: Now including industrial, leisure, data centers and others. Previously there were no targets set by LETI, UKGBC or RIBA for these energy intensive asset types. 📏Key Metrics & Targets: Sets clear limits on upfront embodied carbon and energy use per use class and for varying scope of works. 🌱Renewable Goals: Ambitious targets for onsite renewables and separate embodied carbon targets for solar PVs. ✏️Reporting Hurdles: Full compliance requires a year of occupancy data, challenging for existing buildings lacking unified metering.
