Oman M&A Alert! Australia’s ROC OIL has announced plans for a US$180 million acquisition of Swedish firm Tethys Oil AB, including its key exploration and production assets onshore Oman. The proposed deal would mark Roc Oil’s entry into the MENA region, expanding its existing footprint that is focused on SE Asia, China and Australia. A sale by Tethys has been anticipated since it announced a strategic review of its portfolio in February, with high levels of interest seen by companies within the region. The company’s key assets in Oman are its 30% stake in the CC Energy operated Blocks 3 & 4, as well as numerous exploration interests. It also recently signed a HoA with Algeria’s Sonatrach.
