Thank you (AECB) Association for Environment Conscious Building for hosting The BRUM webinar. Thanks also to everyone who offered to help us share our need for database content with the right people. Those directly in touch with students currently doing their research and post graduates who could upload their work now. Some exciting ideas and suggestions came through, and we’ll be diving into them soon. The momentum is building, slowly but surely! https://lnkd.in/eUR3xSqM

There is a way to stop raising the thermostat to 21 degrees when 19 would suffice! Air leakage can cause up to 50% of heat loss in your home, making you feel colder and often leading to higher thermostat settings. This in turn increases fuel usage, costs, and impacts our carbon footprint. An airtightness test can identify these air leaks, helping to maintain a consistent and cozy temperature. #EnergyEfficiency #EcoFriendly #ReduceCarbonFootprint #WinterReady #SustainableLiving #AirtightHome

ON COMPLETION TESTING FOR NEW BUILDS Part L of the building regulations states that both residential and commercial new build properties need to be tested for airtightness. The air tightness test for a building has a target based on energy calculations (SAP or SBEM). To pass, this target needs to be met or beaten. www.homeenergydoctor.co.uk

An On Completion airtightness test is a crucial part of your build and leaving it until the last minute can be unnerving as failing the test could cause significant disruptions. Fortunately, there is the option to carry out an intermediate test to identify any potential issues and ensure you pass the air tightness test on the first try. 🔧 #AirTightness #EnergyEfficiency #BuildingTips #SustainableLiving

Calling all Building Retrofit Graduates! www.thebrum.org.uk The BRUM (Building Retrofit UK Masters) is a new initiative which is attempting to identify the areas where there are gaps in research and knowledge in the UK Building Retrofit community. For this purpose, a website has been launched specifically to gather information regarding theses and dissertations (only abstracts are displayed, you remain in control of who sees your work) for use by students and other like minded individuals who require information or assistance with a project. This initiative will only work through collaboration and we would be very grateful if you could have a look at the website (only available for submissions at the moment) and perhaps submit your work to inspire someone else. Please message or comment if you have any questions, thanks. A webinar was recently held which gives more in depth information and can be watched on YouTube at : https://lnkd.in/emwWKXJA (AECB) Association for Environment Conscious Building National Retrofit Hub People Powered Retrofit The Landmark Trust

The BRUM! If there are any Building Retrofit UK Master's graduates out there, or anyone who has knowledge they would like to share, please would you take a look at www.thebrum.org.uk and the recent half hour webinar at ahttps://lnkd.in/e5mgz8ts In order for this collaborative initiative to be a success, we need graduates, researchers and anyone else with knowledge and experience. If you could contribute towards populating our database, we can open it up to those students, researchers and anyone else who needs it. The BRUM aims to identify areas where there are gaps, and minimise repetition, as well as strive to drive progress and innovation in the field of building retrofitting across the UK. National Writing Day is an annual celebration of writing designed to inspire people across the UK to get writing. Our message is simple: everyone has a story to tell, and sharing it can be a source of pleasure and power. We have a few stories of our own that will amaze you and make you seriously consider how to reduce fuel poverty and save on energy usage. One such story is Edward Lucas' humorous article in The Times, where he wisely states: "every molecule and electron that we save is one that we don’t have to buy." Have a read; it's very entertaining. https://lnkd.in/enVH3cuG #NationalWritingDay #SaveEnergy #EndFuelPoverty
