About us
In a perfect world, Home-Start wouldn't be necessary. However, many parents face overwhelming challenges, such as poverty, illness, family breakdowns, isolation, addiction, and physical or mental health issues. That's where Home-Start steps in. Home-Start in Suffolk is dedicated to giving children the best possible start in life. Our trained volunteers visit families in times of crisis, providing essential support and guidance. Additionally, our community groups offer a valuable resource where families can find support, build connections, and share experiences. We help parents build confidence, enhance their relationships with their children, improve their health and wellbeing, and strengthen their ties within the community.

We're at the University of Suffolk today for our first Community Champions Conference! Today is all about celebrating our incredible volunteers, and equipping them with the tools they need to continue making a difference. We have a range of inspiring talks and workshops on throughout the day for our volunteers to attend, kindly given by a group of amazing facilitators. A special thank you goes to Steve Allman our keynote speaker. Steve is a charity coach and consultant with almost 30 years experience at every level, from volunteer through to CEO and Chair. In his opening keynote, Steve will share his thoughts about the impact of volunteering, valuing volunteers and no doubt a few stories from his own experiences over the years. We're looking so forward to a day filled with appreciation for our wonderful volunteers!

🎉 Congratulations to Stacey Phillips! 🎉 We’re excited to announce that our Partnerships and Fundraising Manager, Stacey Phillips, has won Event Organiser of the Year at the #Suffolk Community Awards 2024! 🏆 This recognition is a testament to her hard work and enthusiasm in developing the Home-Start in Suffolk Sports Day. In just a few weeks in 2023, she organised an outstanding event that generated fantastic buzz within the Suffolk business community. This year, the Sports Day grew to 18 teams and raised over £12,000 for Home-Startin Suffolk! Supported by our team, Stacey is also overhauling our fundraising and marketing efforts, helping Home-Start in Suffolk to grow and support even more families. And she does it all with a smile! 😊 Thank you, Stacey, for your dedication and impact. Here’s to many more successful events! #SuffolkCommunityAwards #HomeStartSuffolk #EventOrganiserOfTheYear #Congratulations

A Massive Congratulations to All Our Incredible Runners! 🎉🏃♀️🏃♂️ Our amazing Home-Start in Suffolk team has crossed the finish line at the Larking Gowen Half Marathon, and they’re still smiling – even with wobbly legs! Some are already talking about tackling a full marathon, while others are thinking more about those well-earned celebratory drinks. 🍻 And a few might just be hoping to stand up again! 😅 We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, determination, and commitment to supporting families in our community. You’ve all gone #determination #fundraising #familysupport Ceri Yates Stacey Phillips Dr Ruth Flaherty FHEA

Good Luck to Stacey Phillips and Ceri Yates! 🎉🏃♀️ In just 9 months, Stacey and Ceri have gone from zero to preparing to smash their first half marathon! 💪 They’ll be joining the Home-Start in Suffolk running team at the Larking Gowen Half Marathon, and we couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and hard work. Running 13.1 miles is no small feat, and they’re doing it all to support local families – an amazing way to give back and push themselves to new limits! Good luck, Stacey and Ceri – we know you’ll do brilliantly! 🏅👏 #HalfMarathon #ZeroTo13Miles #HomeStartSuffolk #LarkingGowenHalf #Teamwork #Inspiration

This Sunday we have a team of incredible runners taking part in the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon. At the start of the year, they all agreed to take part in our running challenge, mostly self-confessed 'non-runners' they have all been training hard and raising money to kindly support Home-Start in Suffolk. With thanks to Luke Read from Airborne Fit who has supported our runners on this journey and who will be running with the team on Sunday too. We want to thank them all for their amazing efforts and commitment to this challenge and wish them all the best for Sunday. If you would like to support our Ipswich Half Marathon runners please visit the event Just Giving page, and if you are watching the event on Sunday please do give them a big cheer. https://lnkd.in/et2gUVpF
