About us

Hope is dedicated to redefining workplace mental wellbeing. It’s the mindset of your workforce that will drive success and through collaborating with HR and business managers, we provide innovative solutions to enhance your employees’ wellbeing to empower productivity across all levels of your organisation. Hope was created by Sam Gibson-Massey in 2022 when he suffered from burnout and stress, which intensified when it became increasingly difficult to access therapy easily. With experience in an international organisation focusing on technology and recruitment, Sam knew that developing an intelligent platform that utilises AI and humans to match individuals to the mental health support they need, when they need it, would help to make the world a healthier place. There is no team too big or too small, and no industry is off-limits. Let Hope help you to lead by example with workplace wellbeing and provide your people with the tools to thrive.

Now here's an interesting one. The office tea round ☕ Have you made a cuppa for yourself today? And if so, did you offer to make one for a colleague, or the team? We will admit, it's similar to a competitive sport. Here's a few reasons why: ☕ Reports state that offering to make a tea for only certain people can identify the office hierarchy. ☕ Others say they simply don't want to be included in this group activity. ☕ While some members of the team don't always take their turn, causing resentment and being cast aside from the ordering process. ☕ Specific drink orders can be overwhelming and need a personal barista on speed dial. ☕ If you use the wrong mug then you're in trouble! However, offering to make a colleague a drink shouldn't always involve politics. 💙 You could be helping out a colleague who is busy on a deadline but is in desperate need of their afternoon brew. 💙 You are making an effort to catch up with a colleague about a project you are both working on. Speaking face-to-face can be... refreshing. 💙 You are getting up, moving around and stretching your legs. 💙 But best of all, you can take the time to ask someone how they're doing and ask if they are OK. Remember, you can say no. If you simply don't want a drink, or don't have capacity for a break at that time, politely decline. #Tearound #break #tea #coffee #workplacewellbeing #workculture

For over two years now, we have been championing a streamlined path towards positive mental health for everyone, thanks to Sam Gibson-Massey. Sam created Hope after personally experiencing burnout and stress at work and quickly became frustrated with the irony of how stressful it was to get the right help, at the right time, as well as to have continued assistance. He left his position in the consulting world and set out to advocate for mental health and wellbeing at home and within the workplace 💙 Like all businesses, we’ve shifted, reflected and adapted, all with Sam tenaciously and graciously leading the team to support the health of leaders and their employees with data-driven science that feeds into a bespoke wellbeing strategy tailored to their organisation. Sam blends his business acumen and corporate experience with his past acting ventures in TV and theatre to make our mission to improve mental health and wellbeing within workplaces around the world a reality 🚀 #Mentalhealth #Workplacewellbeing #team #teamwork Alex Gibson-Massey 🔹Dr Elaine Smith🔹Victoria Gibson #Founder #business

Mental health doesn't clock in and out. It isn't a 9-5 thing. It's with us all the time. Good and bad. When your organisation positively raises awareness and educates its people about mental health, encouraging them to engage in honest conversations on taboo subjects, such as suicide, it's a huge step in the right direction. And today is as good a day as any to remind ourselves and our colleagues about suicide risk and prevention in the workplace: 💙 Take a look at your company culture around suicide and what resources are available to you and your teams. If an employee or colleague was experiencing suicidal thoughts, would they feel safe to talk about it, or know where to go for help? Do your line managers know what signs to look out for, how to respond, or the appropriate way to offer support in the moment, as well as the resources available? 💙 Use the correct terminology when talking about mental health and suicide. Talking about it in the right way will allow people to feel safe talking about suicide, reduce stigma and prevent inadvertently romanticising a suicide death. ✔ Terms to use: Take one's life, death by suicide, suicide attempt, person at risk of suicide. ❌ Terms to avoid: Commit suicide, cry for help, suicide prone. 💙 Educate yourself and your colleagues on suicide postvention. This is your company's process to support individuals affected when an employee has taken their own life, regardless of where the suicide took place. 💙 As a leader be calm and compassionate, remain available to support your people, and be aware of how your team is. However, you are not expected to be a counsellor and appropriate boundaries should remain in place. You may also need to seek support and should be able to do so. 💙 Highlight this important fact to your teams: Some suicides are preventable. Talking about suicide with an individual that you suspect may be experiencing suicidal thoughts is better than not asking at all. Ask simply and clearly: ‘Have you had thoughts about ending your life?’, or ‘Do things get so bad for you that you think about suicide?’ ✔ Make sure you avoid interruptions (switch off phones, ensure colleagues can’t walk in and interrupt), ask simple, open, non-judgemental questions, avoid judgement and speak calmly. Maintain good eye contact, listen actively and carefully while encouraging the employee to talk. Show empathy and understanding and be prepared for some silences. If after a conversation you feel that someone may be in immediate danger of taking their own life, call an ambulance and don't leave them alone until it arrives. Let's have the conversations that truly matter today, and throughout the whole year 💙 If you or someone you know is struggling, Samaritans will face it with you. They’re available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and can be called on: 116 123. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #Suicide #SuicidePrevention #Help #mentalhealth #workplacewellbeing

We bet it's safe to say that you've received at least two of the following forms of communication at work today: 💻 Digital: E-mail 💻 Digital: Slack 💻 Digital: Internal intranet / portal 📱 Verbal: Telephone 📱 Verbal: Face to face / in-person 📰 Print: Company notice / update / meeting minutes And yet communication is still rated highly when it comes to issues within workplace cultures - which is ironic with all the communication channels and tools available to us. Plus, it's highly likely that every employee or work colleague will process information differently, therefore adapting to different styles of communication is a skill everyone should strive to get right. Why? 👉 It boosts morale and enhances productivity due to nurturing an environment where your people feel respected and understood. 👉 Being open about changes or updates makes your employees feel involved and valued, building trust and advocacy. 👉 It empowers your people and ensures they have clarity on their roles and responsibilities. 👉 Miscommunication creates confusion resulting in lost productivity, more mishaps and errors as well as reduced employee engagement. Avoid this at all costs. 👉 When you provide clear instructions with specific objectives it acts as an incentive for individuals to perform at their best, contributing to the larger goal as part of one big team. #Communication #Workplace #Workplacewellbeing #work
