Creating life affirming experiences in the performing arts - igniting the imagination and make living more meaningful.

About us

Central to local cultural life for over 120 years, Perth Theatre and Concert Hall create life affirming, shared experiences in the performing arts that ignite the imagination and make living more meaningful. Our world-class venues, award-winning programming and inclusive learning and engagement projects play an essential role in stimulating positive wellbeing within the communities we serve, benefitting the local economy and raising the profile of the area. One of Scotland's oldest theatres, founded in 1900, Perth Theatre reopened in 2017 following an extensive period of restoration and redevelopment. The transformed venue houses a traditional Edwardian auditorium, new studio theatre, dedicated community rooms, café, and spacious and welcoming public areas. On top of its successful programme of own-produced and touring theatre, it supports the country’s theatre ecology by providing talent development opportunities for early career artists, as well as research, development, rehearsal, and performance space for non-building-based companies. Devised as part of the city’s millennium celebrations, and opened in 2005, Perth Concert Hall is a modern and elegant space that houses a similarly diverse programme of concerts, performances, talks, competitions, and events. Boasting an acoustically acclaimed auditorium, plus elegant studio space and flexible meeting rooms, it has established itself as a go-to venue for major music and comedy tours; is an exclusive, second home for Scotland’s national orchestras, and a firm favourite on the conference circuit. Located within 90-minutes' drivetime of 90% of Scotland’s population, Perth Theatre and Concert Hall are a lynchpin in the country’s arts infrastructure, and we are recognised as a sector leader, influencer, and innovator.

Highly recommend making time to see There's A Place at Perth Theatre, marking the 60th anniversary of the Beatles' famous stay on the banks of Loch Earn. The play follows four young women Beatles fans - each with their own background, secrets and demons - who set up camp at St Fillans in the hope of meeting their idols on tour in Scotland in October 1964. Excellent performances from the Fab Four cast of Tinashe Warikandwa ('John') Leah Byrne ('Paul'), Rosie Graham ('George') and Yana Harris ('Ringo'), as well as Elena Redmond as the other unlikely superfan. Lots of local references and humour in a well-written script by Gabriel Quigley that's also a serious commentary on the reality of life in the mid-1960s. Great to see Perth Theatre and Concert Hall commissioning new material bringing to life one of Perthshire's many great stories. #Perthshire #culture #theatre

What better way to welcome Perth Concert Hall's brand-new Steinway and send off our beloved original instrument than a concert of duets by our piano picker Steven Osborne and his friend Paul Lewis? 🎹🎹 Sunday's crowd was also treated to an exclusive insight into Steven's selection process in a pre-concert conversation with our Creative Director for Classical Music, James Waters. The new piano is back in action tonight - Wednesday 9 October - as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) is joined by Lera Auerbach for a programme that includes Mozart's celebrated 20th Piano Concerto. 📷Fraser Band

  • We have been working closely with #Dirliebane over the past few years to stage their children’s theatre shows and deliver workshops in the community, so when the opportunity arose to appoint them as Children’s Theatre Company in Residence at Perth Theatre and Concert Hall, we jumped at the chance. Having them here enables Perth Theatre to support Dirliebane to bring their inspirational workshops and creative play sessions to a wider audience and develop and present an increased number of shows – all to the benefit of young people, families, schools and community groups across Perth & Kinross. The Residency also includes the welcome return of #TheCinnamonSisters this Christmas, a gentle and hilarious production for the under 5s, presented in the Joan Knight Studio from Wednesday 11 - Tuesday 24 December: https://lnkd.in/eaavezE2 📷 Ian Potter, LightPress Media and Design Ltd

    • Dirliebane become Children's Theatre Company in Residence at Perth Theatre.
