  • This weekend, our skilled clock mechanics will be busy changing around 2,000 clocks across Parliament – from the smallest to the grandest. 🕒 At 1am tomorrow morning, all UK clocks go forward an hour as we move into British Summer Time. Including the Great Clock in the Elizabeth Tower, which will also undergo scheduled maintenance. 🔧 From 6pm today, the hands will show the wrong time, and the bells will be silent. 🔇 By 2am on Sunday, the chimes should return, marking the start of British Summer Time.

  • Today Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer answered questions from Members of Parliament in the House of Commons Chamber. Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) is a 30-minute session that allows MPs to ask questions directly to the Prime Minister. This helps hold the government to account. PMQs usually starts with the Prime Minister answering a routine question on his official engagements that day, which is then followed by questions from the Leader of the Opposition and other MPs on any topic they choose.

  • The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves MP, will deliver her Spring Statement directly after PMQs today. The statement updates Parliament and the nation on the economy, public finances and progress against the Government’s economic objectives. Unlike full Budget statements which are presided over by the Chairman of Ways and Means, it is possible for the Speaker or any of the Deputy Speakers to be in the Chair.  The Shadow Chancellor, Mel Stride MP, will reply for the Official Opposition, followed by other questions arising from the statement. The Chair of the Treasury Committee is often called to respond at this point. Unlike the Budget, there will be no further days of debate. • Tonight, Parliament will join landmarks across the world taking part in #EarthHour 2025. 🌍 All non-essential lights will be switched off from 8:30pm to 9:30pm to raise awareness of environmental issues. This is supported by the Speaker of the House of Commons and Lord Speaker UK House of Lords as a demonstration of Parliament’s longstanding commitment to improving sustainability across the estate and beyond.
