We’re thrilled to share the inspiring journey of a recent graduate of our Staff Mentoring Programme, Danielle Bowater from Stonewater. 🎉 Since joining the programme, Danielle has gained a stronger belief in her potential to become a leader and now feels more confident in pursuing her future career prospects. Reflecting on her time on the programme, she shared, “I think the programme did reinforce that I do have those skills. I just needed to believe in myself a little bit more and just go for things instead of coming up with excuses as to why I shouldn't.” Danielle is a great example of what the programme can offer, including bringing out the potential of each individual in a supportive environment. Registration is now open for the SMP Winter Cohort! Today, our team facilitated sessions at two board away days. Mushtaq Khan was in Birmingham with Trident Group – UK and Chloe Tilford in London with Wandle. The sessions focused on the crucial boardroom topics of diversity and inclusion. The conversations provided an invaluable opportunity for the board members to step back from meetings and engage in deep and generative conversations about how to build truly inclusive and representative organisations in the housing sector. Throughout the sessions, we explored several key themes. We began by discussing the power of board leadership in driving forward the equality and diversity agenda. Boards play a critical role in setting the tone and prioritising actions that lead to meaningful change. We delved into practical strategies for embedding diversity at the heart of the organisation, ensuring it is not just an add-on but a core value. We highlighted the importance of understanding ou r changing communities, and also knowing and engaging meaningfully with diverse tenant populations, especially in light of evolving regulatory expectations. Obviously we're great fans of having a plan in place which outlines the direction of travel, and provides evidence for the board on activity. We really enjoy facilitating these sessions to help boards develop a shared vision for an inclusive future. Thank you to the board members who participated so openly today, and to our hosts for prioritising this critical work. Oh, it's bit early for a Christmas market don't you think?
