A huge thank you to the sports clubs and national governing bodies who joined us for our Underinsurance Panel event! We took a deep dive into underinsurance and its implications, particularly focusing on property and catastrophic injuries, with a panel of speakers, a Q&A, and networking afterwards. Our expert speakers, including Andrew Slevin, a chartered surveyor at Charterfields Limited; Howden Sport team’s very own Colin Mico, who has over 30 years of industry experience; and Nicholas Thorne, a catastrophic injury lawyer at Clyde & Co, provided invaluable insights for our attendees. Held at our London headquarters and hosted by one of our Associate Directors in Sport, Mike Farrell Dip CII, the event was eye-opening for NGBs and sports clubs alike, showcasing first-hand experience in dealing with instances of underinsurance and the risks involved if you do happen to be underinsured. Howden is delighted to welcome Michael Blüthner Speight who has joined our solicitors’ PII team as a Divisional Director.   Michael has a wealth of experience when it comes to solicitors’ PII. He was previously a partner in a top 40 law firm specialising in defending PII claims against a range of professionals but with a particular focus on solicitors. Michael then moved into the insurance industry in 2012 and has undertaken claims, underwriting and risk management roles which give him a breadth and depth of knowledge and expertise.   Michael will lead the delivery of thought leadership content for the solicitors’ PII team, succeeding Jenny Screech who retires at the end of August. We also take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks to Jenny for her immense contribution to the team at Howden and the solicitors’ PII market generally throughout her long and distinguished career in the industry.
