We recently welcomed Ty Turner MRICS to the HUB team in the role of Head of Investor Relations. This appointment aligns with our aim to grow our portfolio of #BTR-led #regeneration schemes across the UK, using mixed-use, living-led projects as a catalyst for regeneration and housing delivery, and follows the internal promotion of Miles Keeley to Head of Acquisitions this summer. Turner joins the firm from Knight Frank, where he was part of the capital advisory team specialising in raising capital for acquisitions, development and joint ventures. Ty’s appointment sees us continuing our focus on acquiring sites across the UK and exploring new funding opportunities. Already this year we have entered into new ventures with global investment firm H.I.G. Capital and City Developments Limited, the Singapore-based real estate developer, and we're celebrating more than 1,000 completions this year as part of our pipeline of over 8,000 homes completed or under development across the UK. We have also strengthened our long-standing partnership with Bridges Fund Management Ltd., with more sites being acquired, and schemes being funded and achieving planning. Welcome Ty Turner MRICS! #progressivedeveloper #newstarter

We want to hear from the Government about their housing plans, and to discuss how the #BTR and #coliving sectors can help deliver new, high quality homes and communities, and supercharge #regeneration in the UK's towns and cities. If you would like to meet up, reach out direct or in the comments. This month we welcomed Nathan Shaw to the HUB team as Development Manager! Nathan has a background in large-scale, residential-led regeneration of complex brownfield sites, bringing five years of development experience to HUB. He honed his experience in the development team at Berkeley subsidiary St James & St William, working on major projects including Milton Keynes East, Beckton Riverside, Romford Gasworks, East Ham Gasworks, and Chambers Wharf. Nathan’s skills in development management have already made him a fantastic addition to our team. He will be working closely with our development team, led by Damien Sharkey and Victoria Manston, working closely with Tom Stoneham and Tom Valente to drive our living-led regeneration projects forward. Welcome, Nathan! #progressivedeveloper #regeneration #housingdelivery #newstarter #hubteam #urbandevelopment

The City of London Corporation’s Planning Applications Sub-Committee has, today, approved a new ‘Co-Living’ development at 45 Beech Street. Also known as Murray House, the proposals will see the building partially demolished and then extended to deliver 174 private rental co-living units. Further landscaping and public realm works will transform the area into a new destination and cultural space for the City. In keeping with the City Corporation’s recent flurry of #retrofit project approvals, the proposals will deliver a top rated, #sustainable development that is expected to be able to connect to a nearby district heating network upon completion. The building design responds well to climate change resilience by implementing natural ventilation to respond to overheating risks, saving water resources and scope for urban greening and biodiversity. The design approach is an accomplished architectural response to its sensitive setting. #DestinationCity Read more here: https://bit.ly/3MGjc3O

Green light for #Cornerstone! Today the City of London granted their first co-living consent at this iconic location, on the edge of the #Barbican estate. In partnership with Bridges Fund Management Ltd. we are transforming this 1950s office building into a next generation co-living community, reusing 66% of the existing concrete frame which results in a 34% carbon saving over new build. Cornerstone, so named because it was built before the Barbican estate was consented around it, will comprise 174 studio homes, alongside shared external and internal amenity, in the most central of locations close to employment, first class transport and of course the outstanding Barbican Arts Centre. The committee praised the sensitive design by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, and we're very grateful to them and the rest of the project team for helping us to achieve this exciting milestone. We're looking forward to continuing to work closely with the Barbican residents on the construction process to minimise noise and disruption in this uniquely central residential area, and to bringing forward an exemplar co-living project. A good opportunity to stop and reflect on the transformation that is taking place in this part of #Leeds, replacing disused industrial land with a thriving new community - all made possible by the #BTR model attracting inward investment to drive regeneration. Thanks for sharing Victoria Manston, and to our partners on these projects Bridges Fund Management Ltd. Realstar #progressivedeveloper #regeneration
After completing Leeds I earlier this year, our second scheme in Leeds, Leeds II, is powering towards completion. Taking stock of the surrounding area, it is exciting to see this puzzle piece fast taking its place in the masterplan. The success of Leeds’ West End is the result of a collaborative, years-long regenerative placemaking effort. It is no easy feat to extend the boundaries of a city centre, enhancing what is already there while creating more space for it to grow – and I don’t just mean geographically. Working with our partners Bridges Fund Management Ltd. and Realstar, we have collaborated with Leeds City Council and others including Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher (CJCT) and our neighbours, like City Developments Limited’s The Junction. Together we have laid the foundation for a neighbourhood that builds on the liveliness and energy of Leeds’ city centre and spreads it further west. Local people recount their memories of this area from decades gone by: a car park, disused industrial land, a former steelworks. The progress started with a vision from Leeds City Council and has seen the Grade II listed Gritstone viaduct repurposed, the canal opened up and the provision of hundreds of news homes, parks and public amenities. What is there today speaks for itself – a budding community of residents, including families with children, enjoying all their homes have to offer. With key sites in the Latitude masterplan still coming forward, as well as the prominent archway retail, hospitality and leisure sites in the area, there is plenty of transformation in the pipeline. But looking back to where we started, I’m pleased to review how far we’ve come. While no project is smooth sailing, perhaps there is a lesson to be learned here about having the right ingredients: a unique and strategic location for redevelopment, strong design-led vision complemented by strong design characteristics of the historic viaduct, ambitious and co-operative partners, and a shared long-term commitment to delivering a fantastic place for Leeds and its growing community that will stand the test of time. #BtR #buildtorent #regeneration #leeds #placemaking

Very nice progress on our Leeds II scheme which we're developing in partnership with Bridges Fund Management Ltd. for Realstar. The private balconies are going on now, to provide external space for apartments on the lower storeys, offering exceptional views over the refurbished Monk Bridge viaduct and towards the city centre. This scheme delivers 488 more #BTR homes to this emerging area of Leeds, bringing the total we're delivering to 951 homes for UNCLE Living. Designed by Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher (CJCT) and on site with RG Group. Thanks for this photo Tim Tolcher! #progressivedeveloper #regeneration

We are so pleased to be supporting the partnership between Maidenhead United Football Club and Campaign Against Living Miserably for a second year, alongside our partners Smedvig The renewed partnership launched last week at a friendly match with AFC Wimbledon which Victoria Manston and Andrew Cusack from the HUB team were more than happy to attend! Maidenhead United Football Club is located in the heart of the town, just a stroll from our #OneMaidenhead development, where phase one recently completed for Get Living, creating a new community of 429 homes to rent and a new public square. We're supporting the partnership alongside several other organisations, so that Campaign Against Living Miserably can continue to support those in the local community. Supporting the local football club AND a #mentalhealth charity is a win-win for us! The BA Partnership (London) Off The Tap Wilson Partners #TheShanlyFoundation myHRdept. The power of #BTR to unlock #regeneration and stimulate transformation.... This view shows how a new neighbourhood is forming to the west of Leeds city centre. Pictured in the foreground is our second #Leeds project, designed by Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher (CJCT) and on site with RG Group, which we're delivering in partnership with Bridges Fund Management Ltd. for Realstar. Just behind you can see our recently completed first phase, now operating as an UNCLE Living community. This is adjacent to City Developments Limited's #TheJunction, and the beautiful landscaping of the refurbished Monk Bridge Viaduct which links to a safe walking route into Wellington Place and the city centre. This is a great example of the power of #BTR to unlock regeneration projects and transform an area that was previously unloved and unused. Thanks for this photo Daniel Roberts of Glenbrook!
