Over the past year, we’ve worked closely with Healthwatch Luton to raise awareness of the vital services we provide. We’ve welcomed their team to our Bedford call centre and strengthened their understanding of how we can support patients together. HUC relationship business partner Lara Galliford had the privilege of speaking at Healthwatch Luton's recent AGM, where we celebrated a year of productive partnerships. Alongside system partners like the University of Bedfordshire and the ICS, we shared insights into our collaborative efforts and the positive impact they've had on patient care. Last Thursday, we celebrated World Mental Health Day across all our contact centres, honouring the theme 'workplace mental health' which was set by the World Federation of Mental Health. Our colleagues in Welwyn and Taunton shared some pictures of practicing mindfulness and reflecting on the importance of resilience and wellbeing in our daily livess.

Last week, our Head of Market Development Vicki Bean attended the NHS Sustainable Solutions Conference: Building a Greener NHS. "The event was incredibly insightful, and I learned so much," enthused Vicki. "It was inspiring to be surrounded by so many people committed to driving positive change and who recognise our responsibility as the NHS and healthcare providers. The speakers were excellent, and there were some exciting innovations to watch out for. "The day reassured me that HUC is on the right path, making great strides with its Green Plan and sustainability strategy!"

Congratulations to our incredible team members! We're thrilled to announce that 7 of our colleagues, including Shift Managers, NHS 111 Call Handlers and Coaches, have successfully completed the Emergency Medical Training - First Aid at Work Level 3 qualification! Exciting news from Somerset! We've given our fleet a major upgrade for our Out of Hours service. Our newly branded vehicles are now ready to hit the road, ensuring our dedicated drivers can transport our clinicians to their appointments. This fleet refresh isn't just about new cars – it's about our commitment to delivering high-quality care to our patients. With these upgraded vehicles, we're not just driving clinicians; we're driving better healthcare outcomes across Somerset. HUC recently welcomed the Young Healthwatch team from Central Bedfordshire to our call centre, demonstrating our commitment to fostering valuable partnerships that align with our mission of delivering high-quality patient care. This visit offered a unique opportunity for the young team to gain first-hand insights into HUC's operations and services in the Luton and Bedfordshire area. By shadowing NHS 111 call handlers and clinical advisors, the Young Healthwatch members were able to ask questions, observe daily roles, and deepen their understanding of how our services function, strengthening the connection between healthcare providers and the community we serve.
