Writing your CV, applying for jobs? Something to keep in mind... I have been working with companies building teams for over 23 years, but guess what I don't know every company brand out there, or their business model. I have spent a lot of my morning googling companies to find out what they do because your CV doesn't tell me. Without context your CV only tells Half a story. Provide an opener discussing the company model, (footprint, turnover, operating verticals), follow up with your remit in the company, then show me how you add value in your role.

Is it just me or has LinkedIn become a little darker and less friendly? As the business focus and professional posts have been diluted by dribble that once would have found themself on Meta platforms. It has also brought out a far less professional response in the comments section. This isn't a post in response to anything I have received personally, but I just read the 5th online argument between company owners bad-mouthing each other's business offerings today. Other than those of us who actively use it for work, it seems engagement with the platform is moving in the wrong direction. I frequently have individuals come back to a message 6 months later apologising before telling me they haven't been on the platform in months. Are we seeing the beginning of the death cycle of LinkedIn?

I feel Damodara's pain here. Challenge is a key part that keeps individuals motivated to stay in a role. It is often overlooked by employers, with many recruitment processes setting the benchmark far too high for the real world expectations of the job. If you can't keep your employees challenged, they will leave. Instead, focus on finding an individual with 70% of the skills you need. 100% of the attitude and character traits you are looking for and train the 30% it will result in happier employees and higher retention. Also keep in mind no matter how well you devise a technical assessment, it's never the same as the real world, so viewing them as a binary pass or fail 'test' will see you miss out on great employees.
