📸 An Evening of Art and Architecture at Arclight We’ve been busy at our recently completed project, Arclight, a complex mixed-use retrofit that we’re incredibly proud of. Last night, we had the privilege of attending the private view of Josh Shinner's photographic exhibition at the building. The exhibition beautifully captures the Arclight project during its construction. As Project Manager on this transformative development, it was inspiring to see Josh’s lens showcase the raw beauty and craftsmanship that went into bringing this project to life. In addition to the exhibition, we’ve also been taking clients on tours of the building, sharing the journey behind its transformation. Ahead of Major Trauma Awareness Week 16-22 Sep 2024 It was an absolute privilege and honour to attend the House of Lords last night for the event to raise awareness of the Day One Trauma Support charity. An emotional and inspiring event hearing first hand from professor Peter Giannoudus, neuro surgeon who founded the charity who is involved in dealing with the surgeries to save people’s lives and the aftercare. More poignant hearing the ‘dear me’ letters from those who’s lives have been changed forever due to no fault of their own whether that be a freak accident, road traffic accident, stabbing, sporting injuries and the events at the Manchester bombing. What really hit home is this could happen to anyone of us at anytime therefore knowing there is a support network available to help navigate the new world post a life changing injury is absolutely essential. Loss of independence, inability to work, financial worries, loss of identity and dignity, anxiety, depression were just some of the issues highlighted. The road to recovery and adopting a new way of life was evident as long, not without hiccups and complications and often needing further surgeries-all of which require support which is what Day One Trauma Support deliver-rebuilding life’s after catastrophic injury. A pause for thought: -Every 20 minutes someone with life changing injuries is admitted to a UK Major Trauma Centre. -70,000 people sustain major traumatic injuries every year. -Around 1/3 of major trauma patients develop psychological needs such as distress, depression, PTSD, adjustment needs. -3 in 10 major trauma patients acquire a physical disability. -16,000 people die from major trauma injuries every year, the biggest killer of under 45s. It was great meeting the Day One Trauma Support team putting the charity in the spotlight including their patron Baroness Martha Lane Fox who gave her own personal account of her experiences. As we approach the final stages of construction heading to completion, the revealing of the facade following months of scaffolding hiding it away was great to see this week at Shorts Gardens.
