What an incredible day at the Financial Times HQ! 🗞️ I’m excited to share my experience from the recent insight event at the FT’s London office! 🌟 It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the inner workings of a leading business intelligence organisation. As a Computer Science student, I was fascinated to see how the FT integrates technology and data to enhance their operations and storytelling. 💻 The day was packed with engaging talks from Jacqui Dobson, Rukasana Bhaijee, and Nadia Elkheir, as well as insightful conversations with News School interns Fabiola and Fardeen. We also explored FT’s production studios and infrastructure up close, gaining a deeper understanding of some of their technical processes and various operations beyond journalism. 🎥 A highlight was touring the facilities and visiting the rooftop — a pleasant surprise with unusually great weather for a British summer. The vibrant office atmosphere and stunning city views made it a memorable experience. ✨ Some of my key takeaways are: • The need to embrace data-driven approaches for adapting to a rapidly changing news landscape 🌐 • The importance of storytelling and making complex topics accessible 🎨 • FT’s commitment to fostering a culture of growth and continual learning 🤝 Thanks to Huzzle 💚 and the Financial Times for making this event possible! I had a fantastic time speaking to students from Huzzle 💚 yesterday about my internship experience at the Financial Times, as well as discussing the business of media and the power of storytelling. Interning at the FT has been incredibly formative for me, shaping how I view the roles of journalists, campaign executives, producers, and even readers in the media we consume. It was so rewarding to share these insights with such an enthusiastic crowd! Huge thanks to the incredible Jacqui Dobson for organising the event, and to the awesome team at Huzzle, led by Charlie Mart, for bringing together such inspiring students. I left feeling energised by their future plans and ambitions!

My experience at the Financial Times head office! 🗞️🏙️   I was truly impressed by the insights shared by the FT interns, Fabiola Banora and Fardeen Rahman Anan . What stood out most was the emphasis on ambition.  These interns didn't just describe their projects - they spoke about being pushed to grow, challenged to think creatively, and supported to achieve more.  It was inspiring to hear how FT fosters an environment where interns aren't just completing tasks, but actively contributing and shaping their future.    Additionally, FT commitment to diversity is truly commendable.  This emphasis on inclusivity, along with their focus on ambition, is evident in the abundant opportunities they provide for interns and their ongoing development.  One of the highlights of the event was hearing from Rukasana Bhaijee who spoke passionately about FT dedication to creating a truly inclusive environment.  Her insights highlighted how deeply rooted inclusion is within the organisation and how it's not just a policy, but a fundamental value.   This focus on both ambition and inclusion creates a powerful dynamic. It shows that FT isn't just about achieving success, but about achieving it in a way that values and embraces the unique contributions of every individual.  This is a model that I believe other organisations should aspire to.    Thank you to Fabiola Banora, James Redwood,  Fardeen Rahman Anan, Nathaniel A., Rhys Cheung, Fahima Aktar, Isam Ahmad and others I had the opportunity to speak to. Connecting with second, third-year and graduate students already exploring the industry I'm interested in has been incredibly valuable as an individual going into my first-year of university.   Lastly, a massive thankyou to Huzzle 💚 and the Financial Times for such a fantastic event! A big thanks to Charlie Mart and Jacqui Dobson who made the opportunity possible. Nadia Elkheir shared invaluable recruitment tips and tricks, offering a deep dive into what her typical day looks like. Hearing from current FT interns Fabiola Banora and Fardeen Rahman Anan about their experiences was equally motivating.
