They are creating barriers to vehicle data through technical hurdles such as the ‘secure gateway’. In 2024 in the UK, Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) registrations have a record annual volume and market share at 19.6%, but the figure is still below mandated levels of 22% • The drive in EV growth in the UK has been primarily thanks to fleets. • Of the EU5, the UK and France are the two leading countries for BEV growth, whereas Spain and Italy are lagging. A new survey of motorists reveals widespread support among UK drivers for the freedom to choose where their vehicles are serviced and repaired, highlighting the need for sector specific legislation in the automotive aftermarket. The research, conducted by IAAF, included responses from 1,042 UK drivers and found that 92 percent of drivers believe they should have the right to select their preferred service provider for vehicle service, repair and maintenance.
