Small babies: Big difference. Give every newborn a chance.
About us
The Ickle Pickles Children's Charity aims to give every newborn a chance. There are over 90,000 babies born sick or prematurely in the UK every year. Many require Intensive or Special care in a neonatal unit – we call these babies Ickle Pickles. The Ickle Pickles is the only charity that helps hospitals raise money to buy essential equipment for premature babies nationally. We provide new and much-needed intensive & special-care equipment for neonatal units and upgrade facilities to support parents and neonatal staff to make a big difference to the treatment of small babies. Good luck and thank you to ickle Henry & Teddy for running the Junior Great South Run, George, Jamie, Ryan, Lea, Robbie, Mark and Kate for taking on the Great South Run and raising funds for premature and sick babies this Sunday! Lea is running for her son Rocco who was born at 26 weeks weighing just 1lb 3oz. She writes, “Thanks to the wonderful Portsmouth NICU he survived his early birth and is smashing every milestone. Please dig deep and give whatever you can for this amazing cause - like myself, you will never know when you or your loved ones may need Ickle Pickles’ help.” Please sponsor Rocco’s #GreatSouthRun: https://lnkd.in/eMfqECxp Go #TeamIcklePickles! #PremmiePower #PreemiePower #MiracleBaby #PremBaby #NICUBaby

Thank you to Ickle Pickle Henry for running the Junior Great South Run in honour of all babies born too soon. “I was born at 32 weeks and 4 days and spent 23 long days and nights away from my mummy and daddy in the NICU at Queen Alexandra Hospital, being looked after by the wonderful doctors and nurses there. The Charity Ickle Pickles really helped my family out and supported them throughout my stay and beyond. They held coffee mornings where I could go and safely meet other children and their parents who knew how dangerous germs could be for me. No one looked at me differently as I had oxygen tubes. I am running the Great South Run Minis so I can raise some pennies to help other Ickle Pickles and their families be supported and buy life-saving equipment!” Sponsor Henry’s Mini Great South Run 👉 https://lnkd.in/dTkzpUTG

#WaveOfLight Please light your candles in honour of Koby and all the children gone too soon. During Koby's life, there were many challenges, ups and downs, steps forward and steps back but he was one tough cookie and overcame so much. According to his mum Deanna, "he gave everything he had and fought hard for his life. His strength and willpower to never give up amazed us all. Heartbreakingly, just two weeks before his first birthday on the 18th of May 2019 Koby passed away. Throughout it all he remained so brave, so strong, determined and courageous. Koby was inspirational, a warrior and we are so proud of him. Our wonderful son is loved beyond words and he is missed so much."

For #BabyLossAwarenessWeek we're sharing Amy's story. Her twins Max and Maude were born prematurely at 25+2 weeks. "Max and Maude were fighting so hard and doing everything they could to grow and come home. It came as a shock that after 31 days of life, Maude became rapidly unwell with a bug. And within 10-12 hours she had passed away. There could never and there will never be anything that can prepare you for that moment. If I could say anything to her now, it is just how proud I am of her and that she will always be a part of our family. We will remember her always. We will ensure her brothers do, too. I know she is there, guiding us and looking out for her big brothers." If you can, please light a candle today at seven, leave it burning for an hour to remember all our Ickle Pickles in heaven. #WaveOfLight #BLAW #BabyLoss #BabyLossAwareness #PinkAndBlue #PrengnancyLoss #NICUBaby #PremBaby #NICUTwins #Twins
