🚗💨 Any day racing is a good day, even when it’s a bad day... 🚗💨 Supporting #teamiconsys comes in many forms and guises. We’re thrilled to sponsor Phil Howard, our Lead Systems Service Engineer’s car, as Phil competes in his final race of the season in the Classic Marques Speed Challenge! Phil Howards’ final race of the year was at Debden Airfield, a disused airfield adjacent to Carver Barracks near the village of Debden in Essex. Story from Phil Howard... “This was the first time this event had been on the calendar since I started sprinting so thought I’d give it a go. I had been warned that the surface is not exactly good but it’s a very fast track, with a few long straights – 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐠𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠? Most things, as it happens – a last-minute problem with the tow vehicle meant I was late setting off on Saturday afternoon and arrived in the dark. The following morning, we got time to walk the track. What you see at walking pace from standing height and what you see from much lower down at 70mph are very different things. On a practice run, you get a feel for the way a track flows, allowing you to pick corner braking points, turn in points, and when you can open the throttle without fear. By the time I was ¾ the way round my practice run, I approached the 135-degree left hander (Mustang), I’d completely got in the wrong place in my mental map. I slammed on the brakes, at which point I was simply a passenger in a cloud of tyre smoke and ended up with the entire car buried in a hedge... Practice run voided. First timed run and I needed to get a reasonably clean run and remember to brake earlier for Mustang, this I managed with a 110 second run, still more time to find. With the second timed run I was going well until I tried to carry a little too much speed into the chicane just before Mustang. Knowing I wasn’t going to get round, I chose to take the alternative route through the cones. Supercharger belt slip issues only added to a frustrating weekend. A slight improvement on T3 but not enough to make any real difference. It was my worst scoring round for the Handicap championship this year, so Debden won’t count in my best 8 scores. The only positive was that it was still fractionally higher than my average score compared to last season, so every cloud has a silver lining. That’s now my season done and dusted, it’s a case of sitting and waiting to see what the final results are as they depend on the actions of others. It’s time to start on the winter tweaks. First, one on the list is a working fuel gauge, but we also have some suspension work to do and address the supercharger belt slip problem to get more power.” Well done, Phil #teamiconsys is celebrating with you!

🚀 Exciting times for Telford as we await the official launch of The Quad, which is scheduled for Friday this week, a state-of-the-art digital skills and enterprise hub located at the heart of the Station Quarter development! The facility, developed in collaboration with Telford College and Harper Adams University, is set to empower future learners and local businesses, placing Telford and Shropshire at the forefront of digital innovation in the UK. Milissa Chesters MA HRM, FCIPD, Head of People & Culture, had the pleasure of attending the Digital Employer Skills Hub event on Thursday 3rd October and had a sneak preview. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the new facility and learn about T-levels, work-based placements, and pre-employability programs designed to help people back into the workforce. We were eager to get involved as its values and principles align directly with ours. Supporting and developing local talent is a core part of our mission, and we’ve proudly worked with key partner Telford College for over 30 years. Thank you to Teresa Hughes, Jackie Bradnick, Beckie Bosworth and Emma Wade from Telford College. We look forward to seeing how The Quad helps shape the future workforce in the digital sphere and aims to strengthen our community! #teamiconsys
