We were in Sweden today, attending the Nordic Space Summit 🌌 organised by THINGS AB and Vinnova! Space technology is emerging as a key business frontier, drawing significant investment in R&D. As it becomes more accessible, many countries are developing their own space industries, though resources remain concentrated in established nations. 🌍 IHI Corporation participated in the Japan-Poland Nuclear Dialogue and Industrial Forum held in Warsaw on March 11-12. 🌍 This event, hosted by the Nuclear International Cooperation Center, focused on strengthening collaboration between Japan and Poland in areas such as localization, financing, and human resource development. During the forum, IHI’s initiatives at the Yokohama Works were highlighted as a model for Japanese industry, earning high praise for activities like “KAIZEN” - improvement proposal - boards and maintaining skills by participating the welding Olympics.  Additionally, we showcased our achievements in the nuclear field and expressed our commitment to supporting Poland’s upcoming commercial nuclear power projects. 🇯🇵Japan - a country with outstanding technological capabilities! This week I had the privilege to visit Japan and meet the leadership of some of the key heavy industries in the country, as well as with senior officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). I was also pleased to meet with many of the 400 Airbus employees in the country. I am truly impressed by their dedication and enthusiasm to further expand our presence here. 👏 Japan is a key strategic country for Airbus across all our businesses. In recent years we have increased our market share in the commercial aircraft segment from single digits some years ago to 35% today. In addition, we already have over 50% market share in the parapublic helicopter business and a thriving MRO facility in #Kobe. 💪 We also stand ready to support Japan's sovereigny. Our multi-role tanker transport aircraft, the #A330MRTT, and the #A400M, could make significant contributions, as could the #Eurodrone, where Japan was the first country to benefit from the programme's observer status. We are also developing our presence in the local satellite market and working with local R&T partners, through the #AirbusTechHub Japan that was launched in 2024. Beyond our commercial successes, Japan is a source of significant industrial partnerships for Airbus. In fact, the value of our annual purchases of airframes and engines in the country now exceeds USD 2 billion per year. This makes Japan one of the top 10 countries in Airbus' global supply chain! And we are convinced that there are many more opportunities to further expand our presence in this leading economy. Airbus' vision fits very well with the many skills and strengths of this highly developed, high technology, and high quality country. Together, we can lead the way in carbon-neutral technologies, digital transformation, and high-volume, resilient manufacturing. Recently, AEA Communications Manager Julian Atchison traveled to Tokyo for the Clean Fuel Ammonia Association's (CFAA) 6th International Symposium. During the symposium, Julian presented on the global landscape of ammonia subsidies and support programs. In addition, he also visited AEA members IHI Corporation at their Yokohama R&D headquarters, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Marubeni Corporation. Yesterday, February 16th, marked the 61st anniversary of the establishment of Yokohama First Works (now Yokohama Works). At the time, it was one of Japan's largest heavy machinery factories. Today, the Yokohama Works is involved in the manufacturing, installation, operational maintenance, and inspections of nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel cycle systems, chemical process facilities equipment, decontamination and decommissioning facilities, and thermal power plant equipment, as well as the manufacturing of industrial equipment.
