Josh MacAlister, Labour MP, proposes law to ban smartphones in schools 📵 https://buff.ly/3UivJhO As discussions about banning smartphones in schools gain momentum, many might be wondering how this change will impact student safeguarding in schools. While the goal is to reduce distractions and foster a more focused learning environment, there are important factors to consider when it comes to keeping students safe. Potential Safeguarding Concerns: 📞 Limited Emergency Contact: Without smartphones, students might not be able to promptly reach parents or guardians in case of emergencies or urgent situations 🆘 Reduced Access to Help: Phones often play a vital role for students facing bullying, harassment, or other issues—removing that could leave them even more vulnerable As the new law is in the making, it’s essential to consider positives as well as negatives and think about how we can support students in this transition. At imabi, we are continuously looking for ways to improve by regularly checking and keeping ourselves up to date with the new trends, laws, and regulations. Having considered existing and possible future restrictions of smartphones in schools and other education settings, imabi has further developed our student safeguarding platform, imabi Inspire, which is available on all devices, including desktops, laptops, and tablets, as opposed to it previously being available on mobile phones only. If you are a student, parent, teacher, or school employee who may be concerned about student safeguarding in your school as a result of current and future restrictions of smartphones – spread the word about imabi Inspire, which might be just the right student safeguarding solution for your setting now and in the future! We are available at hello@imabi.com Report from anywhere – imabi Inspire is available everywhere! 🗣️#imabi #imabiInspire #BBCNews #StudentSafety #SmartphoneBan #SchoolSafety #Safeguarding #TechAndEducation

Re-sharing this post because no one should face violence or harassment. The case of Gisele Pelicot reminds us how vital it is to stand together against all forms of violence, abuse and harassment, especially towards women. There are resources that can help to safeguard women and provide support that they need - the least we can all do is raise awareness and spread the word within our communities. imabi has a range of safeguarding platforms that are all about creating a positive societal change, giving women a voice and stopping men behaving the way many do towards women. We all deserve to feel safe and to be safe. If you wish to find out more about how imabi can help to tackle violence against women, get in touch via direct message or email at hello@imabi.com #imabi #SafeguardingPlatform #GiselePelicot #StopViolenceAgainstWomen #BreakTheSilence
Founder & CEO | On a mission to impact 5 MILLION Women In Asia I Keynote Speaker I Early Stage Investor I LP
🤐 “When he grabbed me at the hotel bar after the leadership summit, I froze. My first instinct wasn’t to call him out - because I felt ashamed.” 🤐 “I couldn’t make a scene, he had such a good reputation in the firm, no one was going to believe me that he "touched" me, so I kept silent for months, burning with humiliation, blaming myself.” 🤐 “After he assaulted me in the alley, I spent months asking myself, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’” 🤐 “He was my boss. I said nothing. I was so powerless and scared to make a scene.” ... Just some examples that over the years women have told me after our workshops on "combating microaggression and sexism" in the workplace. 𝗪𝗵𝘆? Why do the victims of violence carry the weight of shame, while the perpetrators walk free - silent, unseen, unashamed? 𝗚𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝘁 is here to change that. She did what most of us can’t even imagine—she fought to make public the horrifying evidence of her unconscious rapes by more than 𝟱𝟬 𝗺𝗲𝗻. She demanded the world “look rape straight in the eyes” and stop protecting the abusers. Gisele is 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲. Police found over 𝟮𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘀 of her being drugged and raped, all meticulously organized by her husband under a folder labeled "Abuse." 20,000 pieces of evidence, hidden away, just like the guilt of the men who brutalized her. But Gisele had a different vision. She fought in court to make this horror public, to make us all 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴. Last Friday, the judge ruled in her favor, and the world watched 𝟭𝟮 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀 and 𝟭𝟬 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘀 of her assaults, projected on large screens for the courtroom and public to witness. The men who raped her sat there, their own despicable acts forced into the light, finally seeing the shame that belongs to them. Why does it take a woman like Gisele to do the unimaginable for us to finally understand? 👉 Shame never belonged to the victims. It never should have. Yet, society keeps conditioning us to believe we are the ones at fault. That’s the lie we’ve lived with for too long. It’s time to stop asking ‘𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴?’ and start asking ‘𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?’ It’s time to stop forcing women to carry the shame of violence they didn’t commit. It’s time for the world to look straight into the face of sexual violence and say: 𝗪𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲. 📷 From the bold and courageous Laila Mickelwait #ShameMustChangeSides #JusticeForGisele #BreakTheSilence #WeAreDoneBeingAshamed

Safeguarding the next generation 📱💻 We all recognise the importance of making sure students feel safe, are able to report their concerns and have access to support whenever they need it. As we strive to create a safe and supportive educational environment, it’s essential to empower our young people with the tools they need to protect themselves and their peers. Technology can play a pivotal role in enhancing safety and preventing harmful behaviours in schools. By encouraging our youth to harness technology for safety, we can foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and support in education, where every student feels protected and valued. imabi Inspire app empowers students to do all those things in one easily accessible place.
