📽️The Spirit of Running 🎞️ Impact has always been more than a medal, a finish line, a race distance. We never wanted to be the fastest races, the toughest races…our goal has been to be the most powerful races in the world. That power is found in the community projects, and charity partners. But it is also found in our extraordinary community of Impact Runners. Andy is an exceptional man, and we are so pleased to finally share the full film by Beetle Campbell https://lnkd.in/gWBv9hDn

When we set up Impact Marathon we wrote in our values and goals that we intended to always see fundraising outstrip the cost of entry. This intent has been at the top of our goal list every year since then. We have succeeded a few times, but we are not consistently achieving this goal. One thing we have never done, and remains a red line, is to set an individual fundraising target - we have always wanted to let you choose a target that pushes you, that inspires you, and that is connected to the way a project touches you. We want you to be excited to go out to your community to fundraise and share a story you deeply care about. We want that target to mean something to you, not us, but you, personally. Beginning this Friday, when you register for any Impact Marathon, you will have the option at checkout to reduce the cost by committing to a minimum level of fundraising. By choosing the Commit To Impact option you will be massively contributing to how we plan the impact project. We will be able to work with our partners knowing there is a guaranteed amount coming in, and plan out the project much further in advance. This will give our charity partners a stronger foundation to build on as they will know how much they can commit to the project, thereby elevating your impact. We are excited to have this mid-point option that serves to reward your commitment to fundraising, with our contribution to your costs.

Two worlds collided in the sickening story that has rocked the running world this week. Running and burns violence are two stories that should never intersect. And yet, the tragedy of burns violence should never happen in any place, at any time, for any reason. Since 2015, we’ve worked to amplify the voice of Burns Violence Survivors Nepal. The team is small, but deeply passionate. The office is run off an extraordinarily small budget, to tackle an extraordinarily large problem that is global. Rather than focus solely on treatment, BVS aims to share the cultural drivers behind acts of domestic violence. In Nepal alone there are over 50,000 cases of burns annually, and yet the number of specialised treatment wards remain in the single digits.
So BVS Nepal has focused on awareness, from dramas that tour village to village, to radio jingles, to a beautiful candle workshop run by the survivors of their programs. They face a battle to be heard both inside Nepal, and within the development charity sector itself because this is not a topic that is easily discussed, it is uncomfortable, it is deeply troubling, and the solutions are a complex mix of cultural, legal, social, and medical. Yet the team pushes again, time after time, day after day, survivor after survivor…they truly save lives and change lives. Burns in domestic violence attacks are often used because of the ease—acid, matches, household items. The trauma is both physical and mental, leaving scars that last a lifetime. Uganda’s Rebecca Cheptegei, tragically did not survive. This week, the running world mourns her loss.
If you have been touched and moved to act in any way by this story, then all donations to the Impact Marathon Foundation this week will be offered as an unrestricted grant to BVS Nepal to continue their work. Impact Runners have supported life-saving, and life-changing surgeries for over 400 people, and if we can grow that number then goodness is possible in horror. You can help support more survivors of burns violence via ‘support us’ in our website.

As we’ve always said, after every race, we make it a point to sit down and listen. The feedback we receive from our runners is invaluable—it's not just about how they performed, that has pretty much never formed part of any race report (how crazy is that for a race organiser!?!), but how Impact Marathon has touched their lives on every level. We dive deep into understanding what has changed for them, what they’ve experienced, and how they've been transformed. One story that truly stands out is that of Dionisio. A Guatemalan runner from our race back in 2021, Dionisio’s journey has to be heard. His story is a powerful testament to the impact we strive to create. It starts with one person, but the ripple effect reaches far beyond that—touching communities and the country. Dionisio’s experience highlights the essence of what Impact Marathon is all about: creating positive change that spreads, one person at a time. It’s a reminder that the true impact of our races isn’t just measured in miles run, but in lives transformed. Through our Impact Runner Development Fund, we support Dionisio with entry, transport, accommodation, and some Impact race kit - he went out and crushed the route yet he didn’t forget to treasure every step along the way. We are incredibly proud of the stories like Dionisio’s that emerge from our races. These are the stories that fuel our passion and commitment to continue making a difference. The IRDF is a project we are proud of, and we will share some more stories, but it is also something we want to grow - we welcome your input, your ideas to do this…let us know in the comments if you want to find out more, and have ideas on how to support our dream to grow accessibility to trail running. #ImpactMarathon #RippleEffect #CommunityChange #RunningForGood #powerofrunning #mostpowefulraces

There is a great deal of introspection that the team undertakes in the aftermath of an event. There's the logistical analysis: what we got right, what we need to tweak for the next event. There's the feedback from our charity partners: how did their narrative impact the runners; how can we continue to build their story throughout the year. There is even review of us as a team physically: how much did this event take out of us? Are drained or are we elevated also? The testimonials, quotes, messages we receive, and posts on social media tell this story. Check our latest blog with a few of our favourite from the last year of race events... #powerofrunning #mostpowerfulraces

🌍 Exciting News! 🌍 We are thrilled to announce the second year of our partnership with The Invictus Games Foundation The Invictus Games Foundation champions the power of sport to inspire recovery and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country. Born from the Invictus Games, a global sporting event for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women, both active duty and veterans, the Foundation’s Endeavours project seeks to continue the legacy and spirit of the games, ensuring that the athletes have opportunities to pursue excellence beyond the competitive arena and the biannual games. Last year, we proudly joined forces with the Invictus Endeavours project, creating a collaboration that transcended the standard and became a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and shared purpose by welcoming a group of 10 athletes to the Jordan Impact Marathon. This year, the Impact Marathon and Invictus Games Foundation partnership represents a commitment to inspiring and empowering individuals through the transformative power of sport. We look forward to welcoming 13 athletes to the Nepal Impact Marathon to continue this journey together, championing our organisations' values. . #impactmarathon #powerofrunning #trailrunning #recovery #wis  #mostpowerfulraces #visitnepal #runningthehimalayas
