🚨 Data release and new website alert! Data release 22 is live on the IMPC web portal with a new website and improved user journey. Phenotyping data is available for 9,073 genes with around 2.9 million new data points visualised with updated graphs and tables! With our new website we are introducing new features that will allow the users to enjoy; 📚 Supporting datasets for each phenotype association now summarised on the chart pages. 📊 On the phenotype pages a new interactive graph provides an overview of the phenotype associations across the analysed genes. 🧬 Easier comparison of phenotypes for alleles of the same gene on the gene pages. The IMPC is an international programme to find the function of every protein-coding gene in the mouse genome
About us
The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) is building the first truly comprehensive, functional catalogue of a mammalian genome. Consisting of the largest mouse research centres, IMPC partners are generating a mutant mouse strain for every gene and then assessing these strains for abnormalities related to human disease. All resulting data is freely available and IMPC strains are provided to the scientific community through public repositories. By coordinating their efforts and sharing expertise, IMPC partners are furthering discovery into the genetic underpinnings of disease.

In two studies recently published in Cell and Science, scientists at MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) and the UK Dementia Research Institute at University of Cambridge explored a new therapy for Alzheimer’s disease and potentially other neurodegenerative conditions. The protein - called TRIM21 - selectively destroyed aggregated tau proteins, leaving healthy tau proteins intact. Whereas current antibody therapies have a hard time accessing tau tangles that live inside of brain cells, TRIM21 is able to enter the cell and effectively destroy the tau aggregates. When given to elderly mice with tau proteins, the result was a significant reduction in tau and decreased symptoms of neurodegeneration, including improved walking ability. Despite this exciting finding, the scientists explain that these therapies still require a lot of development before they can be tested in humans. 🎉 Kicking off the #INFRAPLUS project! We’ve just wrapped up two dynamic days in Munich, celebrating the launch of our new project at INFRAFRONTIER. Great discussions, plenty of ideas, and the drive to take them to the next level. Over the next three years, we’re focused on expanding our capabilities to offer cutting-edge in vivo and in vitro models, along with innovative preclinical and data analysis services. With a clear mission to reduce animal use in biomedical research and lower our environmental impact, we are ready to meet global biomedical challenges head-on. Exciting times ahead! #Innovation #BiomedicalResearch #Sustainability #INFRAPLUS #INFRAFRONTIER #GlobalChallenges 🇪🇺 INFRAPLUS has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101131669.
