Brain health affects us all! Very happy to welcome the team from IMPROPER to Brunel University of London this week. They were here doing some promo shots for the PROTECT Study, University of Exeter's major online study into #cognitive aging and #dementia. The entry age has been lowered to 40+ so we need a bit of a revamp to the public facing website (watch this space). Here's a sneak peak behind the scenes with some PROTECT study participants (who I rarely get to meet in person)! I am very lucky to work closely with the Exeter team on this project. Something was missing from Pride…🏳🌈🏳⚧ In 2022, Polly Shute realised there were few ways the LGBTQ+ community could come together for fitness & wellness. She wanted to create an event where Queer people would feel energised - not with booze – but with endorphins & warm community vibes. So, with our help as Creative Partners, Pride Swim was born! As a majority-queer creative agency, building a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community to dive, race & meet their tribe was a natural fit. With the incredible help of Michelle Weltman MBE & Out To Swim, there have been over 10 swims across the UK so far, with the final event of the season – The Big Dip - happening this Saturday 26th of October near Brighton Sealanes. Attending #TheBigDip will be Olympic swimmer Michael Gunning. As a nationwide champion of equality in sport, Michael has supported us since our inception. Today is World Menopause Day. ❤ ➡ Did you know that Menopause is a life transition that affects 50% of the population and can last up to 12 years? ➡ Or that 10% of women leave their jobs due to menopause*? ➡ In fact, 93% of women surveyed felt they would benefit if friends and family were more informed about menopause.** ➡ And 3 in 4 people believe menopause is still a taboo subject.** This needs to change. With Clear Channel UK and charity partners The Menopause Charity, Black Women in Menopause and Menopause Cafe charity - we launched a campaign this week that raises awareness about this important topic. Should women put up and shut up? Duck that. Menopause shows up in unexpected ways – over 34 ways to be exact. And we need to talk about it. That’s why we launched the campaign ‘Educate Yourself’ with Clear Channel UK and our charity partners: The Menopause Charity, Black Women in Menopause, & Menopause Cafe charity. With a focus on 10 lesser-known symptoms & a cast of 17 - all with diverse experiences of menopause - we created 10 playful scenarios to engage and encourage people to educate themselves on this important topic. Fonio, Chinese history, innovation & cultural collaboration…this next beer has it all. 🔥 Inspired by adventurers such as the legendary diplomat Zheng-He, who landed in Africa over 600 years ago, Jing-A (京A) Brewing Co. is bringing new flavours to beer and a new grain to China. Together with Brooklyn Brewery, Jing-A have created a beer made with the African grain fonio. This is the latest in Brooklyn’s ‘Brewing for Impact’ series - which has launched fonio beers with cutting-edge breweries all over the world. It was fascinating to film brewmasters Garrett Oliver and Kristian Li in conversation. Thanks to Maximilian Smith and our brilliant crew: Laura Good, Matt Moore, Laura Seward, Laura Flack, Michal Mroczek and Carla Geronimi. Tickets are on sale NOW for the next Pride Swim! 🥳 On Saturday 26th October at 2pm, The Big Dip will take place in Brighton. This is the final event in a series of over 20 Pride Swims across the UK in 2024! ➡️ What is it? The Big Dip will be a mass dip in the sea, raising money for the Switchboard LGBTQIA+ Helpline, sponsored by Speedo and organised by the incredible Polly Shute. ➡️ Where? It will take place in the Brighton waters, adjacent to the Sea Lanes Brighton, and will be opened by former Olympic Swimmer and LGBTQ+ activist Michael Gunning. ➡️ What’s involved? All participants will get a limited edition swim cap, medal and goody bag with products from Speedo and Pride Swim. After the dip, there will be a celebration area at the Sealanes for all those who have taken part. ➡️ How much? The fee is £10 and 100% of this goes to Switchboard - National LGBTQ+ Support Line to fund their vital work. ➡️ Who can go? This event is open to over 18s and you must be able to swim to take part.
