📣 Exploring the EDI Impact of Labour’s 2024 Budget Chancellor Rachel Reeves's has revealed a budget with various changes, ranging from tax and spending to pay and pensions. We've been monitoring some of the announcements today: 🔹 The increase in the legal minimum wage promising to narrow the wage gap 🔹 A significant boost to the affordable homes budget marking progress for social housing availability 🔹 The rise in bus fares juxtaposed with extended fuel duty cuts could have mixed impacts 🔹 Changes in National Insurance and adjustments in employment allowances might present new challenges and opportunities for small businesses 🔹 The state pension will rise, however millions of pensioners will lose their winter fuel payment 🔹 With a substantial increase in NHS funding, including £1.8 billion to expand childcare services, we're looking at potentially enhanced healthcare access and support for carers - many from underrepresented backgrounds 🔹 Investments in education, including rebuilding over 500 schools, could dramatically improve educational outcomes for children in marginalised communities 🔹 New taxes on vaping and increased taxes on tobacco and alcohol may have unintended disproportionate impacts on specific social groups We’ll be sharing our thoughts and recommendations on some of these announcements in more detail over the next few days.
