We welcome today's announcement of the proposed changes to delivering free school meals and will closely follow it's progress through The Scottish Parliament. We continue to call on The Scottish Government to expand free school meal provision as part of efforts to tackle child poverty. Families have told us that costs associated with school including school meals add a significant burden to finances that are already stretched on account of the rising cost of living.

This afternoon our Policy & Public Affairs Officer attended an event with Shelter Scotland, sharing the findings from their commissioned research into the experiences of children living in temporary accommodation. This research is critical as it centres the voices and experiences of children and young people. We will look into how we can take forward some of the recommendations from the research to help transform lives of children and young people we work with. Lisa-Kristin Weylandt #TransformingLives

Yesterday, we had Natalie Don-Innes MSP, Minister for Children, Young People and Keeping the Promise in our Glasgow Office. She met with some of the young people we support alongside Matthew from our Youth Inspire Group who got the opportunity to share his own experiences with both the Minister, and ourselves in this fantastic video ⬇️ Lisa-Kristin Weylandt John Nicholson Martyn Walker Lucy Neilson Martin Dorchester John Brown Drew Collier Beth-Anne McDowall

Heading to Edinburgh today to talk to funders about the challenges we are seeing in the communities we support. Destitution, lack of hope and opportunity, violence and understanding to name a few!Given its #scottishbudget today I would ask Shona Robison to consider this. Big shout out to Providers Unite #providersunite as they march on Westminster today and I ask Rt Hon Rachel Reeves to listen and understand the damage and destruction being caused to the #socialcaresector. These are people and organisations that go the extra mile every day and make our society a better, safer, happier place. ❗️This afternoon The Scottish Parliament will finalise and vote on the 25-26 budget. We repeat our calls for The Scottish Government to mitigate the impending changes to National Insurance and threshold changes that will significantly impact the essential sector. Action is needed to allow us to continue to be there for children, young people and families for years to come.
