The annual business conference for independent opticians and optometrists
About us
Independents Day is the business symposium for independent optometrists and opticians. Following a hiatus in 2019 and obviously 2020 and 2021, iDay successfully returned in 2022. This year's event - Unlocking your Practice’s Dry Eye Potential- takes place on Monday 8th July this year. Since 2005, Independents Day has built a reputation as one of the key meetings in the optical calendar for those involved in independent practice. Our USP has been the recognition that Independent practitioners are ophthalmic professionals first, but in an increasingly tough retail environment, need to thrive commercially in order to be able to provide their clinical skills. In order to thrive, independent practitioners also need to operate sound business as well as clinical practice in equal measure. Recognising this difficult combination of skills and that there is plenty of clinical support out there, Independents Day increasingly focused purely on commercial awareness, business development and simply being the most successful practice you can be. This will ultimately ensure that patients will continue to receive the best care the independent sector can offer. Lectures always contain useful tips and great ideas from people who have 'walked the talk'. These 'pearls' can be quickly and easily implemented, often at little or no cost, for immediate impact to the business.

New products are the lifeblood of every successful business... As such next Monday's #iShow at Independents Day is just as important to the success of the day as the conference itself, both for delegates and exhibitors. Additionally without the investment of our sponsors and exhibitors we couldn't keep the cost of a ticket so reasonable. So thank one and ALL! 🙏 👏 👏 Our Sponsor Roll of Honour can be seen in the image below and these are our wonderful exhibitors: EyeMed Eyeplan Ltd Net Zero Eyecare Ocuco Limited Ophtecs Europe Optisoft Ltd Safilens Seiko Vision UK The Hearing Care Partnership

How NOT to set-up and run a dry eye clinic! Thought that might make you look... Seriously though it's important to understand the pitfalls in order to avoid them. So iDay gets off to a flying start by opening with Trusit Dave. He will get right to the crux of whether or not you should expand your dry eye service. Dr. Dave will provide an honest 'warts and all' perspective on the key considerations, as well as the all important discussions a business must have before investing in developing a more specialist dry eye offering for its patients. He is followed by Nick Black who will share the financial and other analysis that is needed in order to ensure that dry eye appointments are no less profitable than providing other services. He will include insight as to how this helped his practice - BBR Optometry Ltd - with their offering. Certainly a not to be missed opening session. To book https://lnkd.in/eNVR98JP PS As if that wasn't enough, the day is also worth 4- CPD points 🤓 #dryeye #independentopticians #businessdevelopment #CPD

THE DOS AND DONT'S OF MARKETING DRY EYE Marketing guru, and no stranger to iDay, Andy Clark will be sharing his expert opinion on the best approach to marketing dry eye to your patients. COSMETOMETRY?!?! Wondering what on earth we're talking about? Well according to Craig Wilcox it's the natural development of #dryeye practice, moving toward a wellness model. Wellness includes feeling great, eating healthily, and exercising and is also about looking good, which can be important for patients’ self-confidence and happiness. Some practices are already moving to a wellness model, from which aesthetics is a natural progression. Want to know more? Then register to join us in Birmingham on Monday 8th July https://lnkd.in/eNVR98JP #independentopticians #optometry #businessdevelopment

Craig & Trusit's Excellent Adventure! ...in #dryeye of course! 😜 Keynote speaker Trusit Dave will be joined by fellow optometrist, Craig McArthur for this final interactive CPD session of #iDay, where the delegates will take charge of the subject matter! The audience will decide what dry eye topics, from the selection offered, they want the pair to discuss from their personal perspectives. There will be plenty of opportunities for audience participation to support or challenge our 'experts' respective viewpoints. This is sure to be a lively and fun session to draw the conference to a close. 😃 It's not too late to book at #earlybird prices https://lnkd.in/eNVR98JP #dryeyedisease #independentopticians #businessdevelopment #optometry

*YOU ASHED IF THERE COULD BE #CPD, WE LISTENED!* Independents Day (Mon 8th July this year) has always been about the business aspects of the optical and optometric world. As such we've never much cared about CPD and anyway, much of the content over the years hasn't been 'CPDable'. Anyhoo, we are now in the process of registering this years #dryeye content that is applicable for points. So delegates can now not only benefit from hearing some of the best speakers on commercialising dry eye, they can also pick up a few #CPD points to boot 🤓 We call that a WIN-WIN! 👏 For more information and to book at extended early-bird prices visit https://lnkd.in/eJUU2JEW #independentopticians #businessdevelopment #dryeyedisease
