Welcome on board Steve! Steve succeeds Vincent Choi, Pomelo’s co-founder, who is joining the company’s strategic advisory board. In the past few years, Vincent and co-founder Simon Verraest have done an amazing job transforming Pomelo from a startup to a trusted payment infrastructure provider to several leading financial institutions in Southeast Asia with nearly $2 billion in annualized processing volume.
I’m delighted to advise that I have accepted the role of CEO at Pomelo! Their Acquiring as a Service offering has clear product-market fit, evidenced by the growing customer base in several countries in Asia. In just the first few weeks I have already attended a customer launch event at Dialog Finance in Sri Lanka. I look forward to celebrating many more over the coming years. We are happy to announce that Inference Partners and 6 Degrees Capital are co-leading Rivero’s $7M Series A, with Kraken Ventures, PostFinance, seedX, Robert Kraal (former COO of Adyen), and a long list of payment executives joining the funding round. The value chain of payments is highly fragmented, and while there are initiatives to address this challenge on the acquiring side, the issuing side has seen much less innovation. With its suite of payment solutions, Rivero enables card-issuing financial institutions to vertically integrate their fragmented payment value chain.
