Founded in 1866, Heap & Partners Ltd in Birkenhead, is a designer & manufacturer of industrial valves and instrumentation equipment. With funding from the Innovate UK Launchpad programme, our support has enabled the business to improve its productivity through: 🔬 The development of a new range of advanced material hygienic diaphragms that can be commercially manufactured in the UK. 🦾 The enhancement of manufacturing quality and the simplification of complex supply chains. ♻️ Delivering cost savings and environmental benefits to many industries within the supply chain. Innovate UK is dedicated to amplifying local economic strengths by ensuring our products and services align with the needs of innovative businesses. The Innovate UK Launchpad Programme has been a key element in this joint mission with the Combined Authority. Our Launchpads enable us to locally target tailored support to SMEs’, giving many of them their first step onto the ladder of the wider Innovate UK support available. Liverpool City Region was the focus of a national pilot Launchpad on advanced manufacturing, with digital technologies and net zero outcomes. Co-created in partnership with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. The programme, opened in September 2022, has supported a cluster of small and medium sized enterprises and 37 of the most innovative received a share of £7.5 million to progress their ideas towards commercial success, boosting local economic growth. We would like to thank Andrew Will of Heap & Partners Ltd, and his team for their warm welcome and showcasing how the Launchpad programme can provide that boost to businesses wherever they are on their innovation journey. 🔗 Discover more about the Launchpad Programme: https://ow.ly/ijtH50SKIzO 🔗 Learn more about our partnership and Action Plan with Liverpool City Region, and more: https://ow.ly/vJC850SKIzM LYVA Labs | #BusinessInnovation #LCRinnovation #InnovationLaunchpads #Launchpads #EconomicGrowth

Building and strengthening global relationships opens more opportunities for the UK. Innovate UK is working closely with Australia on net zero initiatives, recently funding business-led collaborations to reduce the cost of clean hydrogen. The UK Research and Innovation Faraday Battery Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK, is partnering with CSIRO's Battery Manufacturing team in Melbourne and the Green Critical Minerals team in Perth. This partnership includes a visit from UK battery technology companies to Australia in October which aims to strengthen and expand our collaboration with CSIRO in battery technology, driving forward our shared net zero goals. Working with the Energy Systems Catapult, part of the Innovate UK Catapult Network, we are also providing CSIRO’s Smart Energy team with in-kind support to establish the National Energy Analysis Centre Living Lab. This initiative will create a real-life energy laboratory in thousands of Australian homes, accelerating our pathway towards decarbonisation and fostering innovation in energy transformation. Innovate UK is driving productivity and economic growth by supporting businesses to develop and realise the potential of new ideas. 🔎 Future flight technologies could help make UK-wide transportation systems more sustainable and increase economic opportunities. These are the findings of two new studies from YouGov Sciencewise and Thinks Insight & Strategy around public perceptions of drone technology. The studies are part of the Future Flight Social Science Research Programme, led by the University of Birmingham and commissioned by UK Research and Innovation Future Flight Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK and ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council The research shows: ✅ 95% of the British public are aware of drone technology but far fewer have heard about advanced air mobility (28%) or electric/hydrogen regional air mobility (24%). ✅ Many believe that future flight technologies will benefit the emergency services, improve access to isolated communities, reduce fossil fuel usage and create new jobs. ✅ Around three in five (59%) see that innovation involving lower-emission flight technologies is important to tackling climate change. Future Flight is a key theme of this year’s Farnborough International Airshow. Visit the Future Flight Challenge team at Booth 1110, to learn more about how they are helping transform Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), drones, and zero-emission regional air mobility in the UK.
