Adriano Goldschmied, through his Daily Blue brand, has teamed up with Pure Chemicals || Soko Chimica-Italy and Knitdigo to create a line of knitted indigo fabrics that can be finished to look like woven #denim fabrics – known for its technical difficulty. The Italian chemicals company used its new Soko Authentica and its Soko Lumia, which works in dry ozone, to “open up a new category of #jeans and knits”. Soko’s managing director, Matteo Urbini, said: “Our mission is to simplify processes while making high-quality, accessible products that deliver outstanding results to everyone. So, when industry visionary Adriano Goldschmied approached us to explore a new product category, we immediately said yes.” Knitdigo was founded in 1981 in Taipei and operates the indigo dyeing, knitting, garment manufacturing and laundry. The rich colour is achieved using traditional Japanese rope #dyeing techniques. The collection will be launched at Kingpins Amsterdam on October 23 and 24. https://lnkd.in/eMzvEe_3

Genova Jeans Week (October 1 to 6), a celebration of all things #denim through the medium of art and design, has concluded in the Italian city, after a busy schedule of workshops, tours, #art, seminars and parties. The narrow, winding streets created a perfect backdrop to the denim-related installations dotted around the city as part of the Jeans Trail, by local and international artists, including Ian Berry and Bruno Catalano. Italy-based laundry group Elleti lent significant pieces from its denim archive to a space in the university library, while students created denim articles and local children made denim ‘fish’ to decorate the city. As well as a focus on history – with the city lending its name to ‘jeans’ after being shipped from the port - organisers wished to show visitors the story behind modern jeans-making, highlighting some of the work being done to lower the impact of manufacturing. Twelve companies were selected to represent various stages of the supply chain, including Lenzing Group, OFFICINA39 , Elleti Group, Aquarelle India and FIMATEX jeans italian inspiration. The main seminar revolved around the themes of a circular economy and upcycling, with speakers including WRAD’s Matteo Ward, Simon Giuliani from Candiani Denim, Alfio Fontana from Humana People to People Italia, and Lenzing’s Carlo Covini. Show organisers were keen to present a well-rounded programme, with a view to potentially adding in a more “business orientated” element next year. Denim brand Diesel has received the Circular Economy Award presented by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation as part of the 2024 Sustainable Fashion Awards organised by The National Chamber for Italian Fashion. The award ceremony was held at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, at the close of Milan Fashion Week. The brand was commended for its approach to circularity, through the Diesel Rehab Denim and Diesel Second Hand projects, as well as the collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). Renzo Rosso, founder and chairman of OTB Group and Diesel, said: “I am very proud to receive this award because I consider sustainability as a state of mind and this is what I try to convey to all our teams. Fashion is one of the most polluting industries, and I am convinced that we must all play our part in reducing its impact on the planet." #jeans #denim #circularity #fashionawards #ellenmacarthur #textileswaste #recycledcotton #circularfashion https://lnkd.in/eXgMMXaR
