We identify and solve problems on a national scale, working together for a Scotland without poverty or disadvantage.
About us
Since 2008 Inspiring Scotland has worked towards a Scotland where everyone, no matter where they live, or the circumstances they are born into, is given the chance to enjoy a happy, healthy life free from poverty or disadvantage. Inspiring Scotland aims to amplify and strengthen the impact of organisations across civic society by helping them build their strength, resilience, and reach. We do that through harnessing the power of private, public, and voluntary sectors. Together, we are social problem-solvers.

It's Trustees Week 👏 Did you know there are more than 180,000 charity trustees in Scotland? It takes a village (or should we say around the population of Aberdeen) to govern the third sector. At Inspiring Scotland, our Specialist Volunteer Network (SVN), or as we call them our 'governance gurus', work with charities and their Boards on development and resilience. Last year, we matched 50 trustees from SVN with charities and delivered in-depth governance development support to 46 organisations. Thinking about trusteeship? Read our myth-busting blog for a better understanding of how you could get involved ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eSgbed7u

John Simmonds is new to SVN but has already hit the ground running. His expertise and passion for EDI comes through from the moment you meet him. Here's what YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) had to say on the impact this work has had for them 👇

"A Scotland for me, you, my refugee friends, everyone of every race, can live and have equal opportunities." It's #ChallengePovertyWeek We work with partner organisations for a Scotland where everyone, no matter where they live, or the circumstances they are born into, is given the chance to enjoy a happy, healthy life, free from poverty or disadvantage. We recently went along to The Poverty Alliance's Human Rights Act event to see the real difference funding is making from the Equality and Human Rights fund. We discussed poverty as a human rights issue and met with a community researcher to talk about the differences we can see happening more widely and the importance of using rights-based language in every day conversation for change.
