The 30th European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) Annual Meeting gets underway in Rome from 28 August, in person and online. CIfA staff will be leading a Roundtable of the Community for Teaching and Training of Archaeologists (session 1128) and taking part in a range of other sessions. CIfA will also have a stall at the conference, where delegates can find out more about the leading professional body representing archaeologists working in the UK and overseas, and chat with some of our staff about what we do and how we may be able to help. You can find the team at Stand 14 ready to say hi and to answer any questions you might have about the work of CIfA. There are dozens of sessions at this year’s EAA conference, which are divided into seven main themes, from The Material Record to Persisting with Change. The conference is fully hybrid and runs until 31 August. There are also excursions, social events and the European Archaeological Fair. CIfA is hosting a second free online lunchtime event for employers considering taking on an archaeology apprentice, on 5 September from 12.30 – 1.45pm, following on from the very successful first event earlier this month: https://lnkd.in/e58Fg5zT Our training providers will be delivering short talks so you can find out more about their offer and how they can support you in offering an apprenticeship role in your business or organisation. There’s never been a better time to take on an apprentice in our sector. There is now a suite of apprenticeship qualifications to choose from and a network of training providers offering quality off-the-job training. More and more employers are benefiting from employing apprentices, so if you’re thinking of doing the same, come along to our lunchtime event to find out more. A reminder that an all-day archaeology conference in Edinburgh on Saturday 12 October 2024, organised as part of the official celebrations for the city’s 900th anniversary, is now open for bookings: https://lnkd.in/eUU3bs-G Organised jointly by the City of Edinburgh Council Archaeology Service and the University of Edinburgh Department of Archaeology, the conference is open to all with an interest in Edinburgh’s rich history.
