The event raised an impressive £21,790 for this wonderful cause! Despite both teams giving it their all, victory wasn’t ours this time - but '2025 champions' has a nice ring to it! A new activity area known as The Zone has opened up for students at the college’s Derby Road campus. Run by the welfare team, the area is designed to help students engage in activities, games, clubs and crafts. The vibrant yet safe space is for all students to come together with their friends, along with the chance to form new friendships and discover fresh interests, while helping them to access support from a member of the team. Offering ping-pong, basketball shoot and table football for the energetic guests, there are the calmer activities to enjoy with board games and books, and coming soon there will be the opportunity to try out a range of crafts. Welfare manager Becky Moore said: “The Zone has been up and running for over a week now and it’s been very popular, which is fantastic. “A free book swap is coming soon. All we ask is a student exchanges a book for one of their old ones. We’ll also be running a range of different workshops each week, focusing on building social skills and new friendships and trying to get more of an inclusive feel throughout college.” Talented duty head Beth Parkin, who is responsible for the colourful mural in The Zone, added: “The Zone has been warmly embraced by students, who are already making the most of the vibrant space. “We have had such a diverse mix of students coming together to enjoy and make the most of the space which is great to see!” Huge thanks go to Integrated Doorset Solutions Ltd for their kind creation and donation of the surrounding soft wood fence to The Zone. IDS health and safety manager Craig Spademan and quality control officer John Ionut Costea joined staff and students this week to see the great buzz and facilities in the atrium. The company is no stranger to the college, with it currently employing two apprentices who are studying through the West Notts and it will soon be putting a number of its staff through Level 3 and Level 5 management programmes.

Yet another roaring success for Integrated Doorsets, achieving beyond the 60-minute fire rating mark with, 67 minutes! In our latest fire test, we had the privilege of testing a project-specific doorset for the prestigious Aldermanbury Square project, in collaboration with Brown & Carroll. While we always strive for the highest standards of durability and safety, aesthetics play a key role in our designs. This particular doorset features vertical angular slats running from the top down to a 300mm stone kickplate on the primary leaf, and full-height slats on the secondary leaf, both fitted with a concealed fixing system. The FD60 doors are also equipped with two unequal vision panels, complemented by oak flush glazing beads that align perfectly with the vertical ribs, creating a seamless, elegant appearance.
