Our award-winning team can not only develop a whole range of repeatable, nutritious crop recipes, but also engineer the tech which brings them to life! Whether testing the effects of far-red lighting on lettuce, or looking at ways we can embed automation into our tech, we pride ourselves on leaving no stone unturned. Crop science and engineering are the two cornerstones of successful, profitable vertical farming. We adopt a best-in-class mentality to ensure our tech delivers for customers across the world, 365 days a year.

Our work with Potager Farm dates back over two years, over the course of which we've helped the Berlin-based business supply the German capital’s thriving gastro scene. We initially hosted members of team Potager at our Crop Research Centre in Scotland, training them to use our technology and accompanying software, so to see the towers in action makes us immensely proud! Here's a unique insight to what goes on every day at the farm 👇.

IGS CEO Andrew Lloyd recently sat down with Reuters to speak about the potential impact of vertical farming, as well as our partnership with ReFarm in the United Arab Emirates. We were excited to speak about the genuine change our technology can help facilitate, as well as where it fits into a wider system. Watch as Andrew discusses everything from the environmental benefits of vertical farming, to reducing electricity costs and operating at scale: https://lnkd.in/evdayF4H

We’ve been immersed in agritech for over ten years now, over the course of which we’ve deployed our technology all over the world. But what actually makes up a vertical farm? Take a trip to our Crop Research Centre in Scotland and find out with IGS’ Operations Manager, Dan Maltby 👇.

We’re here for our customers throughout every step of the buying journey. Accurately calculating operational and overall capital expenditure is crucial to profitability in every industry, and vertical farming is no different. To help get growers off the ground, we’ve provided this free guide to break down everything they need to consider. From energy expenditure and logistics, to automation and labour, a little forward planning goes a long way. We’ve used this model to help turn initial conversations into fully-functioning, scalable operations across the world. Download the full guide here 👉: https://lnkd.in/eFHrFfQd

Last week, we were delighted to welcome visitors to our Dundee-based Crop Research Centre from The Juniper Trust, the ICAS Foundation, and The Robertson Trust. Visits like this are always the perfect opportunity for us to showcase a range of career avenues young people may never have considered, or even known existed. We were blown away by some of the questions this group asked – it's so rewarding to get to show off our tech to such an interested and engaged audience!

Food security is one of our generation's biggest challenges, with consequences that could ring far beyond empty shelves and stockpiling. It's therefore pivotal that we continue to raise awareness of sustainable solutions, and IGS' Head of Commercial Relationships, Sandy Kennedy, does just that as part of this thought provoking report from Savills, profiling two of our deployments with ReFarm in the Middle East and Potager Farm in Europe. Read Sandy's contribution, alongside articles from EIT Food, Mission Kitchen, and more: https://lnkd.in/es83H8vC

Reforesting landscapes poses a huge logistical challenge – one only exacerbated by increasing labour shortages across the globe. Factor in the impact of diseases and unpredictable weather patterns, and planters are left scratching their heads as to how to get any real value out of reforestation. This is where vertical farming comes in. We’ve worked with national bodies to help provide a solution where tree seedlings start life in an IGS Growth Tower, getting access to key nutrients and growing robustly to the point where they’re ready to be transplanted outdoors. Seedlings see: 📈 Improved germination ⚡ Faster growth cycles ⬇ Reduced labour need 💪 Better survival rates! Find out more with our forestry guide: https://lnkd.in/eJsFq2EH

We firmly believe in circularity. We’re acutely aware that our planet’s resources are finite, and we need to make every effort to reuse them – that's why initiatives such as Zero Waste Week are so important. Our recent partnership with ReFarm in the Middle East embeds a waste-to-value system, combining innovative technologies to reduce waste at every opportunity. On a more granular level, our tech works to reduce water usage by up to 98%. This ensures we maximise natural resources, making sure we give back more than we take ♻️.
